【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=더불어민주당 대권 잠룡인 김두관 전 의원이 대구를 찾아 소통 행보에 나섰다.

김두관 전 의원은 22일 오후 4시 대구 YMCA 카페에서 '탄핵 후 새로운 정치와 대한민국'이라는 주제로 정치개혁과 개헌의 필요성에 대해 이야기한다.

이날 오전에는 민주통일열사 고(故) 강창덕 고문을 추모하기 위해 칠곡 현대공원 1묘원을 방문했다. 강창덕 고문은 평생을 민주주의와 평화통일에 몸 바친 인물이다.

하루 앞선 21일에는 대구경북인터넷기자협회와 만나 간담회를 가졌다. 김 전 의원은 이 자리에서 이재명 대표의 '민주당은 중도보수 정당' 발언을 비판했다.

그는 “민주당은 사회 경제적 약자 크게는 중산층과 서민을 대변하는 정당”이라며“한국 기준으로는 중도 진보 정도로 생각한다”는 입장을 밝혔다.

그러면서 “중도 진보라는 튼튼한 뿌리를 중심에 두고 유연하게 하는 게 맞는데 아예 뿌리를 옮기는 것처럼 하고 원래 중도 보수다 이러니까 동의가 안된다”며 “아무리 당 대표지만 당의 좌표를 '중도 보수당'이라고 하는 것은 맞지 않다”고 강조했다.

김두관 전 의원은 경남 남해군 이어리 이장으로 시작해 36세라는 최연소 나이로 남해군수 자리에 올랐으며 2002년 고 노무현 대통령 참여정부의 초대 행정자치부 장관을 지냈다. 이후 경남도지사와 경기도 김포, 경남 양산 국회의원에 당선되었으며 지난 22대 총선에서 김태호 국민의힘 의원에 패배해 낙선했다.
