24일 오전 11시 더불어민주당 대구‧경북 원외 지역위원장 12명은 민주당 대구시당 앞에서 김두관 원내대표 후보를 지지 의사를 밝히며 기자회견을 개최했다.

이날 김두관 후보에 대한 지지를 밝힌 대구‧경북지역 원외 지역위원장들은 “민주당은 험지에서 고생하는 대구경북의 동지들에게 위로와 격려의 말은 전할지는 몰라도 대구경북이 겪는 고통과 대구경북이 제안하는 정치혁신 선거개혁은 외면하고 있는지도 모른다.”고 말했다.

이어 “그렇기 때문에 영남에서 선전 없이 총선 승리는 없다고 밝힌 김두관 의원의 말이 무척이나 반갑다.”며 “영남에 교두보를 만들고 총선을 이기겠다는 말에도 주목하고 있다.”고 전했다.
