【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=더불어민주당 대구시당은 5일 논평을 내고, 대구지법이 정재목 전 남구의회 부의장의 제명 집행정지 가처분 신청을 기각한 것과 관련해 남구의회를 강하게 비판했다.

정 전 부의장은 지난 4월 달서구에서 동승자인 50대 여성 A씨의 음주운전을 방조한 혐의로 불구속 송치됐다. 이에 남구의회는 7월 만장일치로 정 전 부의장에 대한 제명을 의결했으나, 정 전 부의장은 제명 집행정지 가처분 신청과 제명 처분 취소 소송을 제기했다.

대구지법은 정 전 부의장이 제기한 가처분 신청을 기각하며, 지방의회의 징계가 공공복리와 신뢰를 지키기 위한 정당한 결정임을 확인했다. 

그러나 남구의회는 징계를 의결하고도 뒤에서 탄원서를 돌리는 등 ‘제 식구 감싸기’ 행태를 보여 논란을 키우고 있다.

현재 법원의 기각 결정으로 제명은 유효하며, 정 전 부의장이 이번 주까지 항고하지 않을 경우 의원직 제명은 유지된다. 본안 소송 결과에 따라 최종 의원직 제명 여부가 결정될 예정이다.

민주당 시당은 “징계를 의결해 놓고 뒤에서는 개인 자격이라며 변명하는 파렴치한 행태는 시민을 기만하는 정치쇼”라며 “남구의회가 감싸고 있는 것은 음주운전 방조가 아니라 부패한 의회 자신”이라고 강하게 지적했다. 

이어 “시민의 안전을 외면하고 범죄를 두둔하는 의회는 더 이상 존재 가치가 없다”고 강조했다.

아울러 “남구의회는 즉각 제 식구 감싸기를 중단하고 징계를 끝까지 이행해야 한다. 회유와 꼼수로 버티려 한다면 돌아오는 것은 시민의 분노와 준엄한 심판뿐”이라며 강력한 조치를 촉구했다.

However, the Namgu District Council has been fueling controversy by circulating petitions behind closed doors after the disciplinary action was passed, acting as if it were protecting its own members.

The court's dismissal of the case remains in effect, and if former Vice Speaker Jeong does not appeal by this week, his expulsion from the council will remain in effect. The final decision on whether to expel him will depend on the outcome of the main lawsuit.

The Democratic Party of Korea stated, "The shameless act of passing a disciplinary action and then later making excuses, claiming it was done in a personal capacity, is a political show that deceives the citizens." The Democratic Party strongly criticized the Namgu District Council, saying, "What the Namgu District Council is protecting is not the abetment of drunk driving, but the corruption of the council itself."

They continued, "A council that ignores the safety of its citizens and condones crime has no value."

Furthermore, they urged strong action, saying, "The Namgu District Council must immediately cease protecting its own members and fully implement the disciplinary action. If they attempt to persevere through appeasement and trickery, they will only face the wrath of the citizens and a harsh judgment."
