【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구경북경제자유구역청(청장 김병삼)은 2일 포항테크노파크 다목적강당에서 ‘2025년 DGFEZ 바이오기업 스케일업 세미나’를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 세미나는 대구경북경제자유구역청 주최, 포항테크노파크 주관으로 지역 산·학·연·관·병 관계자와 바이오산업 전문가 등 100여 명이 참석해 최신 바이오산업 기술 동향을 공유하고, 기업의 혁신 성장을 도모하기 위해 마련됐다.

행사에서는 대구경북경제자유구역청·포항시·포항테크노파크·칠곡경북대학교병원·에스포항병원·포항바이오산업협회 간 ‘지역 임상시험 활성화와 산·학·연·관·병 협력체계 구축을 위한 업무협약(MOU)’도 체결됐다. 이번 협약으로 지역 바이오기업들은 신약 개발과 임상시험 단계에서 대학·병원·연구기관과 긴밀히 협력할 수 있는 제도적 기반을 확보하게 됐다.

행사는 1부와 2부로 나뉘어 진행됐다. 1부에서는 칠곡경북대학교병원 이호원 교수가 ‘지역 기반 협력을 통한 바이오 임상 혁신의 미래’를 주제로 기조연설을 했다. 2부에서는 ▲‘Muscle and Health – 혁신의 기회’(에스포항병원 박덕호 연구소장) ▲‘디지털치료제와 디지털디바이스’(㈜지엘 김도현 대표) ▲‘바이오 투자동향’(IBK벤처투자 곽용도 팀장) ▲‘알츠하이머병 신약개발’(쓰리브룩스테라퓨틱스㈜ 김성영 대표) 등 다양한 주제 발표가 이어져 최신 연구성과와 투자 동향이 공유됐다.

김병삼 청장은 “이번 세미나는 지역 바이오기업 경쟁력 강화와 바이오산업 미래 설계를 위한 뜻깊은 자리였다”며, “이번 업무협약을 계기로 포항은 연구개발과 임상시험, 사업화까지 이어지는 전주기 바이오 혁신 허브로 도약할 것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다. 이어 “디지털 바이오 기술 창출 등 바이오산업의 미래 먹거리에 새로운 동력을 만들어낼 수 있도록 대구경북경제자유구역청이 앞장서겠다”고 덧붙였다.

Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority Hosts '2025 DGFEZ Biotech Scale-Up Seminar'

The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority (Director Kim Byung-sam) announced that it held the '2025 DGFEZ Biotech Scale-Up Seminar' at the Pohang Technopark multipurpose auditorium on September 2nd.

Hosted by the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority and organized by Pohang Technopark, the seminar brought together approximately 100 participants, including representatives from industry, academia, research, government, and hospitals, as well as biotech experts, to share the latest biotech technology trends and promote innovative growth for companies.

The event also saw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority, Pohang City, Pohang Technopark, Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital, S-Pohang Hospital, and the Pohang Biotechnology Industry Association to "Promote Regional Clinical Trials and Establish a Collaborative System among Industry, Academia, Research, Government, and Hospitals." This agreement provides an institutional foundation for regional biotech companies to closely collaborate with universities, hospitals, and research institutions during new drug development and clinical trials.

The event was divided into two parts. In the first part, Professor Lee Ho-won of Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital delivered a keynote speech on "The Future of Bio-Clinical Innovation through Regional Collaboration." The second part featured presentations on various topics, including "Muscle and Health – Opportunities for Innovation" (Park Deok-ho, Director of Research at Spohang Hospital), "Digital Therapeutics and Digital Devices" (Kim Do-hyun, CEO of GL Co., Ltd.), "Bio Investment Trends" (Kwak Yong-do, Team Leader at IBK Venture Investment), and "Alzheimer's Disease Drug Development" (Kim Seong-young, CEO of Threebrook Therapeutics Co., Ltd.), sharing the latest research achievements and investment trends.

Commissioner Kim Byung-sam stated, "This seminar was a meaningful opportunity to strengthen the competitiveness of local biotech companies and plan for the future of the biotech industry." He added, "With this business agreement, we expect Pohang to leap forward as a full-cycle biotech innovation hub encompassing R&D, clinical trials, and commercialization." He added, "The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority will take the lead in creating new momentum for the future growth of the biotech industry, including the creation of digital biotechnology."
