【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=iM뱅크(은행장 황병우)는 29일 대구민주시민교육센터에서 대구광역시교육청(교육감 강은희), 대구지방보훈청(청장 김종술)과 함께 ‘광복 80주년 독립유공자 후손 지원사업’ 후원금 전달식을 열었다.
이번 사업은 iM뱅크와 대구시교육청이 지난 2022년 체결한 ‘대구 민주시민교육 활성화를 위한 업무협약’의 일환으로 추진됐다. 학생들이 민주시민체험활동 과정에서 획득한 민주(가상)화폐를 기부하면, iM뱅크가 이를 현금으로 환산해 사회공헌사업에 활용하는 방식이다.
특히 2025년 광복 80주년을 맞아 올해 기부금의 사용처는 ‘독립유공자 후손 지원’으로 결정됐다. 학생들이 자발적으로 모은 기부금은 남산기독교종합사회복지관을 통해 대구 지역 독립유공자 후손 161명에게 식료품 꾸러미를 전달하는 데 쓰일 예정이다.
황병우 iM뱅크 은행장은 “학생들이 직접 모은 기부금이 나라를 위해 헌신한 독립유공자 후손에게 감사의 마음으로 전달된다는 점에서 의미가 크다”며 “지역사회와 함께하는 기부 문화의 선순환 모델로 자리 잡을 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
이어 그는 “앞으로도 대구시교육청과 협력해 민주시민교육을 통한 나눔의 가치를 실천하고 지역사회에 따뜻한 변화를 이끌어가겠다”고 덧붙였다.
