【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=내란 혐의로 기소된 윤석열 전 대통령에게 특검이 사형을 구형하자 대구 지역 정치권의 목소리가 극명하게 엇갈리고 있다. 

진보 정당들은 ‘헌정질서 파괴에 대한 엄정한 심판’을 촉구하며 특검의 결정을 지지한 반면, 보수 정당은 ‘정치 보복’이라며 강하게 반발했다.

정의당 대구시당은 14일 “윤석열은 역사상 최악의 내란 수괴”라고 규정하고, “사형 구형이 끝이 아니라, 최종 선고가 법의 엄정함을 보여줘야 한다”고 강조했다. 

이어 “민주주의와 헌정질서를 무너뜨린 내란 범죄에 대해 가장 무거운 처벌을 요구한 것은 당연하다”며 “재판부가 이번 판결을 통해 사법부에 대한 국민적 신뢰를 지켜야 한다”고 말했다.

같은 날 진보당 대구시당 역시 논평을 내고, 사형 구형을 ‘민주주의의 철퇴’라고 평가했다. 

진보당은 “법적 꼼수나 지연 전략으로 단죄의 시간을 늦출 수는 있어도, 정의의 흐름을 거스를 수는 없다”며 “다가올 선고가 독재의 망령을 완전히 지우는 계기가 돼야 한다”고 목소리를 높였다. 

또 “내란 수괴에게 관용을 베푸는 것은 민주주의에 대한 배신”이라며 재판부에 엄정한 결정을 촉구했다.

반면 우리공화당은 특검의 사형 구형을 강하게 비판했다. 조원진 우리공화당 대표는 “윤 전 대통령에 대한 사형 구형은 명백한 정치 보복”이라고 주장했다.

또한 “헌법상 대통령의 고유 권한인 계엄 선포를 내란으로 몰아가는 것은 법적으로 성립하지 않는다”고 덧붙였다.

조 대표는 “국회가 탄핵 남발로 인해 마비된 상황에서 계엄 선포는 부정선거 의혹을 규명하기 위한 조치였다”며 “특검이 주장하는 친위 쿠데타나 장기집권 시도는 사실과 다르다”고 반박했다. 

이어 “국회 점거, 정치인 체포, 언론 통제, 단전·단수 등 기본권을 제한한 조치도 없었다”며 특검의 주장을 전면 부인했다.

내란 특검의 사형 구형을 둘러싼 지역 정치권의 입장 차이가 두드러지면서, 다음 달로 예정된 법원의 선고가 대구 정치권과 지역 사회에 어떤 영향을 미칠지 주목된다.

The same day, the Progressive Party's Daegu chapter also released a statement, calling the death sentence a "sledgehammer of democracy."

The Progressive Party argued, "While legal tricks and delaying tactics can delay the sentencing process, the course of justice cannot be reversed. The upcoming sentencing must serve as an opportunity to completely erase the specter of dictatorship."

They also urged the court to make a stern decision, stating, "Showing leniency to the leader of an insurrection is a betrayal of democracy."

On the other hand, the Our Republican Party strongly criticized the special prosecutor's request for the death penalty. Our Republican Party leader Cho Won-jin argued, "The death penalty request for former President Yoon is clearly political retaliation."

He added, "It is legally untenable to label the declaration of martial law, which is the president's exclusive right under the Constitution, as an insurrection."

Cho countered, "With the National Assembly paralyzed by the abuse of impeachment, the declaration of martial law was a measure to investigate allegations of election fraud. The special prosecutor's claims of a coup or attempt to seize power are untrue."

He then completely denied the special prosecutor's claims, stating, "There were no measures restricting basic rights, such as occupying the National Assembly, arresting politicians, censoring the press, or cutting off electricity and water supply."

With the regional political landscape increasingly divided over the special prosecutor's request for the death penalty for sedition, attention is focused on the impact the court's ruling, scheduled for next month, will have on Daegu's political and local communities.
