한국수력원자력(주) 월성원자력본부는 지난해 12월 31일 발전소 주변지역 9개 초중고 학생들에게 장학금을 비대면으로 전달했다고 5일 밝혔다.
월성본부는 주변지역에 소재하는 9개 학교(나산초, 양남초, 양북초, 감포초, 양남중, 양북중, 감포중, 경주화랑고, 한국국제통상마이스터고)를 대상으로 특기적성 기준 69명, 성적우수 기준 42명의 장학생을 선발해 인당 30만원씩 총 3,330만원의 장학금을 수여했다.
이번 장학금 전달은 코로나19 상황을 고려해 별도의 전달식 없이 비대면으로 이루어졌다.
원흥대 본부장은 “월성본부는 지역주민들의 학비 부담을 덜어주고, 학생들에게 학습동기를 부여하기 위해 지속적으로 장학금 지원 사업을 시행하고 있다.”면서, “지역의 학생들이 훌륭한 인재로 성장해 지역과 국가 발전에 기여하길 바란다.”고 말했다.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd.'s Wolseong Nuclear Power Headquarters announced on the 5th that it had delivered scholarships online to 9 elementary, middle and high school students in the vicinity of the power plant on December 31 last year.
The Wolseong Headquarters targets 9 schools located in the surrounding area (Nasan Elementary School, Yangnam Elementary School, Yangbuk Elementary School, Gampo Elementary School, Yangnam Middle School, Yangbuk Middle School, Gampo Middle School, Gyeongju Hwarang High School, and Korea International Trade Meister High School). 42 scholarship students were selected based on academic excellence and awarded a total of 33.3 million won in scholarships of 300,000 won each.
In consideration of the COVID-19 situation, this scholarship was delivered non-face-to-face without a separate delivery ceremony.
The head of Wonheung University said, “The Wolseong Headquarters is continuously implementing scholarship support projects to ease the burden of tuition fees for local residents and motivate students to learn. We hope to contribute to the development,” he said.
