정명섭 사장은 지난 2월 대구도시공사 사장 공모에 응모해 도시공사 임원추천위원회로부터 최종후보로 선정됐다. 

이후 대구시의회는 인사청문회에서 정명섭 후보에 대해 사장직 수행에 무리가 없다고 보고 인사청문회 경과보고서를 채택·의결했다.

정 신임사장은 경북 청송 출신으로 계성고등학교, 서울대학교 토목공학을 졸업하고 2006년 대구시 도시주택국장으로 역임하였다. 이후 대구시 건설본부장·건설방재국장·건설교통국장·재난안전실장을 거치며 대구 건설 및 안전 전반에 대한 전문가로 자리잡았다.

정명섭 사장은 취임식에서 “시민의 행복을 선도하는 일등 공기업이 되기 위해 부동산 전문기관으로서 조직 역량 강화를 최우선으로 두겠다.”며 “ESG경영을 핵심가치로 삼고 시민의 눈높이와 기대수준에 맞는 변화와 혁신을 통해 대구 시민들에게 사랑받는 조직이 되겠다.”고 포부를 밝혔다.
