홍준표 대구시장의 당선 직후 산하기관 통폐합 방침에 따라 가장 먼저 사장직을 내려놓았던 그는 15대 사장으로 재차 인정받으며 이날 취임함으로써, 공사 내 미뤄두었던 업무에 속도가 날 전망이다. 

정 사장은 이날 취임식을 마치고 임직원들과 함께 대구도시개발공사 경영혁신 간담회를 갖고 공사의 미래와 경영 방향을 논의했다.

그동안 공사는 민선 8기 출범과 함께 대구의 미래 50년 발전을 위한 기반 조성과 미래공간 개발사업 추진을 위한 도시개발 기능 강화의 필요성에 따라 지난 9월 1일 대구도시개발공사로 사명을 변경하고 공공개발사업 전문기관으로의 정체성을 재확립시켜왔다. 

정명섭 사장은 “이번 대구도시개발공사 출범으로 공공개발사업 전문기관으로서의 정체성을 명확화하고, 대구 미래 50년 번영의 토대를 만드는 변화와 혁신에 기여할 것”이라며 “다양한 행정경험과 깊은 전문지식을 바탕으로 대구 미래 50년을 위한 역점사업에 적극 참여하고 취약계층을 위한 주거복지사업을 활발하게 추진하겠다”고 말했다.

이어 “시정 비전에 맞춘 파워풀한 혁신을 통해 조직역량을 강화하고 빠른 시일 내에 체제를 정비해 속도감 있게 업무를 추진해 나가겠다”고 덧붙였다.

He added, “We will strengthen organizational capabilities through powerful innovation in line with the vision of the municipal administration and reorganize the system as soon as possible to promote work at a speedy pace.”
