월성원자력본부에 따르면 월성 3호기는 정기검사와 원자로 안전성 향상을 위한 예방정비를 위해 8월 24일 오전 9시 10분에 발전을 정지하고, 약 46일간의 공정으로 제19차 계획예방정비에 들어갔다.

월성 3호기는 계획예방정비기간 동안 법정검사, 저압터빈 분해점검등 안전계통 정비 및 설비점검을 마친후 원자력안전위원회의 승인을거쳐, 2022년 10월 9일 발전을 재개할 예정이다.
