5일 경주시에 따르면 올해 총 사업비 19억 300만원을 들여 추진 중인 경로당 5곳 신축사업이 진행 중이다.

먼저 사업비 10억 4300만원이 투입돼 건천읍 조전리에 조성중인 ‘건천읍 노인분회 경로당’이 현재 50%의 공정률을 보여 올 연말 준공을 앞두고 있다.

또 사업비 1억 8000만원을 들여 조성 중인 안강읍 산대3리 ‘피일경로당’이 이번 달 완공을 목표로 막바지 공사가 한창이다.

이어 사업비 2억 4000만원을 들인 천북면 오야리 경로당이 설계를 마치고 내년 6월 완공을 목표로 이달 중으로 착공에 들어간다.

이밖에도 소현천 하천재해 예방사업에 편입된 현곡면 오류1리 경로당이 사업비 2억원을 들여 신축을 위한 절차가 진행 중이며, 안강읍 대동리 경로당이 사업비 2억 400만원을 들여 내년 6월 완공을 목표로 설계가 진행 중이다.

경주시는 시설 외부와 내부 인테리어 등 공정별 공사를 조기에 완료해 어르신들의 불편을 최소화 할 방침이다.

특히 어르신들이 경로당을 이용함에 있어 불편함이 없도록 설계 단계에서부터 ‘장애물 없는 생활환경(Barrier Free)’ 인증은 물론 ‘장애인등편의법’을 준수해 공사를 진행하고 있다.

주낙영 경주시장은 “어르신들이 쾌적한 환경에서 활기 넘치는 노후생활로 100세 시대를 보낼 수 있도록 경로당 신축사업 추진에 최선을 다하고 있다”며 “어르신들의 사회참여 기회를 확대함은 물론, 경제적 부담을 해소하고, 다양한 시책 추진을 통해 어르신들의 편안하고 건강한 노후를 위해 최선의 노력을 다할 것”이라고 강조했다.
