【브레이크뉴스 경주】박영재 기자=경주시는 24일 개막을 시작으로 오는 28일까지 경주화백컨벤션(HICO)에서 음향학 분야의 최상위 학술대회인 ‘제24회 국제음향학술대회(약칭:ICA 2022)’개최한다고 밝혔다.

시에 따르면 한국음향학회가 주최하는 국제음향학술대회는 음향분야의 학문적 우수성과 위상 강화를 위해 1953년 네덜란드 델프트에서 처음 개최 된 후 유럽, 아시아, 미주 지역 등을 순회하며 3년 주기로 개최된다.

시는 한국음향학회와 함께 지난 2016년 9월 아르헨티나 부에노스아이레스에게 열린 국제음향위원회 이사회에서 중국 베이징과 이집트 카이로와의 최종 경합 끝에 이번 대회 유치에 성공했다.

이번 행사는 온라인 참가자를 포함해 전 세계 40개국 1100여명이 참가해 다양한 워크샵과 초청강연, 포스터발표, 전시, 학생 캠프 등 다양한 프로그램이 열린다.

시는 이번 대회를 통해 국내의 음향학 분야의 발전상황 홍보와 UNESCO 세계문화유산인 경주투어 프로그램을 통해 지역문화의 우수성도 전파할 예정이다.

주낙영 시장은 “마이스산업은 경주의 미래를 밝히고 새로운 천년을 이끌어 갈 차세대 핵심 산업이다” 며 “대회의 성공적인 개최를 통해 경주를 비롯한 우리나라의 음향학 분야의 발전과 국제교류 확대 제고에 기여할 수 있도록 대회 준비에 철저를 기하겠다” 고 말했다.

 1,100 people from 40 countries around the world, including online participants, will participate in this event, and various programs such as workshops, invitational lectures, poster presentations, exhibitions, and student camps will be held.

Through this competition, the city plans to promote the development of the domestic acoustics field and spread the excellence of local culture through the Gyeongju Tour Program, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Mayor Nak-Young Joo said, “The MICE industry is the next-generation core industry that will illuminate the future of Gyeongju and lead the new millennium. I will do my best to do that,” he said.
