16일 김 의원에 따르면 이 자리에서 국토부는 KTX가 운행하는 동해·경전·전라선으로 SRT 운행 확대 계획을 보고하며, 선로용량과 차량 여건을 감안하여 노선별 일 4회 운행 추진을 계획한다고 밝혔다.

장기적으로는 SR 차량을 추가 구매하고 오송-평택 구간 2복선화를 통한 운행 확대를 검토 중이다.

이에 따라 2023년 하반기부터 포항-수서간 고속열차가 운행이 시작돼 포항시민들의 교통편의가 증대될 예정이다.

김정재 의원은 “포항시민들의 염원인 포항-수서간 고속열차 연내 개통이 차질없이 진행되고 있음을 전해드릴 수 있어서 기쁘게 생각한다”며, “우리 포항시민들이 하루빨리 고속철도 서비스를 누릴 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 전했다.
