【브레이크뉴스 경북】박은정 기자=경산시(시장 조현일)는 재경 경산시 향우회 최병영 회장이 고향을 응원하는 마음을 담아 고향사랑기부금 최고액 500만원을 기부했다고 24일 밝혔다.
고향을 위해 고액을 기부한 최병영 회장은 압량읍에서 태어나 경산 중앙초등학교를 졸업하는 등 경산 출신으로 어스사이언스코리아 대표이사를 맡고 있다.
지난 10여 년간 서울에서 활동하는 경산인들의 모임인 재경 경산시 향우회장을 맡아 분골쇄신의 노력으로 향우회와 경산시의 발전에 큰 역할을 해 왔다.
지난해 3천만 원 상당의 왕벚나무를 경산시에 기증해 오목천 둔치를 따라 2km 구간에 오목천 벚꽃길을 조성하는 등 지역사회 발전을 위해 물심양면으로 힘쓰고있다.
또 지난달 17일에는 고향사랑기부제의 성공적인 정착을 위한 경산시와 재경 경산시 향우회 간 업무협약을 체결하는 등 경산시 발전을 위한 적극적인 활동을 주도하고 있다.
최병영 회장은 “저의 작은 기부로 전국에 거주하고 있는 많은 경산 출신의 향우회원들이 고향을 다시 한번 추억하고 응원하는 계기가 됐으면 한다”고 밝혔다.
정규진 행정지원국장은 “지금까지 소중한 기부들이 이어져 왔지만, 이번 기부는 더욱 특별하다. 향우회장님의 기부가 촉매제가 되어 경산을 떠난 전국의 많은 출향인의 기부로 이어져 결국 경산시의 발전을 뒷받침할 것으로 믿는다”고 전했다.
