【브레이크뉴스 경북 】이성현 기자= 포항시남구선거관리위원회는 오는 4월 실시하는 제22대 국회의원선거(포항시남구울릉군선거구)와 관련해 포항 지역 공무원 A씨를 공무원의 정치적 중립 훼손 혐의로 대구지방검찰청 포항지청에 고발했다고 밝혔다.
선관위에 따르면 A 씨는 공무원 내부 행사에 입후보예정자 B씨를 초대, 출마 사실을 소개하고 인사시키는 등 공무원들을 대상으로 입후보예정자(現 예비후보자) B씨를 위해 선거운동을 한 혐의다.
‘공직선거법’ 제60조(선거운동을 할 수 없는 자) 제1항제4호에 따르면 공무원은 선거운동을 할 수 없고, 이를 위반한 경우는 ‘3년 이하의 징역 또는 6백만 원 이하의 벌금에 처한다’고 규정하고 있다.
선관위는 “정치적 중립의무를 준수해야 하는 공무원이 선거에 관여한 행위는 매우 중대한 범죄행위로써 법과 원칙에 따라 철저히 조사해 엄중 조치하는 것을 원칙으로 하고 있다“면서 ”공명선거가 이뤄지도록 최선의 노력을 다하겠다“고 밝혔다. 또한 공무원은 국민 모두에 대한 봉사자로서 솔선수범의 자세로 공정하고 깨끗한 선거문화를 조성하는 데 앞장서 줄 것을 당부했다.
