이날 행사는 추석 명절을 맞아 지역 주민들이 전통시장에서 물품을 구매하도록 홍보하여 전통시장에 활력을 불어넣고 시장 상인들을 격려하기 위해 마련됐다.

이날 장보기 행사에 참여한 시의원들과 사무국 직원들은 지역 특산품과 제수품 등을 구입하는 한편 시장 상인들과 덕담을 나누며 애로사항을 청취했다.

김선태 영천시의회 의장은 “우리가 함께한 장보기 행사가 전통시장에 활력을 불러일으킬 좋은 기회가 되었으면 좋겠다.”라며“주민들께서도 관내 전통시장에서 품질 좋은 물품을 저렴하게 구매하여 지역경제 살리기에 동참해 주시고 희망과 정을 마음껏 나누는 행복하고 따뜻한 명절 보내기를 바란다.”고 말했다.
