지난해 3월 영천시 인구감소 문제를 의회 차원에서 해결하기 위해 구성된인구대책 특위는 이날 회의에서현행 집행부 인구 정책을 중심으로 의원들과 집행부 부서장들간의 심도 높은 질의 및 토론이 이어졌다.

먼저, 김상호 의원은 인구 관련 정부 정책 기조가 기존의 거주인구 중심에서 생활인구 중심으로 변화되므로, 이에 맞는 정책 추진을 당부하였는데,

구체적으로 외국인 비자 발급 시 이들이 오랜 기간 정주할 수 있는 정책을만들어 주기를집행부에 요청했다.

그 밖에 학생과 학부모가 함께 참여하는 학습동아리교육방식,공공산후조리원 설치 관련 산모 지원 방식의 다변화 등을 제안했다.

배수예 의원은 영천시 청소년꿈잡(JOB)기 체험센터 건립과 관련, 영천경마공원 등 주변 관광시설과 연계된 관광명소를 조성하여 타 시군의 청소년들도 찾아올 수 있는 시설로 만들어 줄 것을 당부했다.

이영우 의원은 생활인구 증가를 위한 근로자 기숙사 설치를 제안했다.

권기한 위원장은 활발한 출장을 통해 타 지역 인구정책 우수사례를 살펴볼것을 제안하면서, 기존의 천편일률적인 공모사업 추진에서벗어나 지역만의 특색있는 사업을 추진해 줄 것을 주문하면서회의를마무리했다.
