【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구한의대학교 한의과대학은 지난 4일, 대구 혁신캠퍼스 한의학관 대강당에서 한의학과 교수 및 학생 150여 명이 참석한 가운데 ‘2025년도 하계 의료봉사단 발대식’을 개최했다.

올해로 34회를 맞은 의료봉사단은 한의학과 학생회장의 팀 구성 및 봉사 계획 설명, 서부일 학장의 발대식사, 변준석 의무부총장의 격려사, 학생 대표 선서식 순으로 진행되며, 학문과 봉사의 가치를 되새기는 뜻깊은 시간이 이어졌다.

봉사단은 지도교수 및 진료 지도 한의사 28명과 학생 281명 등 총 10개 팀으로 구성되며, 7월 7일부터 20일까지 약 2주간 경북·경남 등 전국 6개 농어촌 지역에서 의료 사각지대 주민을 대상으로 한방 의료봉사활동을 펼친다.

이번 봉사에는 침·뜸·부항 등 치료 기구와 한약 엑기스를 포함한 한방의약품이 모두 대학 지원으로 제공되며, 사전 교육과정으로는 안전 교육, 방제학, 침구학 실습 등이 시행돼 학생들의 봉사 역량을 높였다.

서부일 학장은 “더 확장된 규모로 진행되는 의료봉사가 지역사회에 실질적인 도움이 되기를 바란다”며 “학생들이 학교에서 배운 인술을 통해 지역 주민들과 따뜻한 교감을 나누고 돌아오기를 기대한다”고 말했다.

변준석 의무부총장은 “코로나19 이후 대면 봉사활동이 확대되는 만큼, 이번 봉사가 대구한의대와 지역 공동체 간 상생의 계기가 되기를 바란다”며 “학생들이 봉사의 가치를 되새기며 뜻깊은 시간을 보내길 바란다”고 격려했다.

한편, 대구한의대는 건학 이념인 ‘인류 공동번영과 지역사회 기여’를 실현하기 위해 교수, 재학생, 동문 한의사 등이 함께 참여하는 다양한 한방 의료봉사 활동을 지속적으로 전개하고 있다.

Daegu Hanui University College of Oriental Medicine held the ‘2025 Summer Medical Volunteer Corps Inauguration Ceremony’ on the 4th in the main auditorium of the Oriental Medicine Building at Daegu Innovation Campus, with approximately 150 professors and students from the Department of Oriental Medicine in attendance.

The medical volunteer corps, which is in its 34th year this year, proceeded in the following order: explanation of team composition and service plan by the student body president of the Department of Oriental Medicine, inauguration ceremony by Dean Seo Bu-il, encouragement speech by Vice President of Medical Affairs Byun Jun-seok, and student representative oath-taking ceremony. It was a meaningful time to reflect on the value of scholarship and service.

The volunteer group consists of 10 teams, including 28 supervising professors and medical doctors, and 281 students. They will provide medical service activities for residents in medical blind spots in 6 rural areas nationwide, including Gyeongbuk and Gyeongnam, for about 2 weeks from July 7 to 20.

For this service, treatment devices such as acupuncture, moxibustion, and cupping, as well as herbal medicines including herbal extracts, are all provided with support from the university. Pre-education courses include safety education, herbal medicine, and acupuncture practice, which enhances the students’ volunteer capacity.

Dean Seo Bu-il said, “I hope that the medical service conducted on a larger scale will be of real help to the local community,” and “I hope that the students will return after sharing warm relationships with local residents through the medical skills they learned at school.”

Vice President Byun Jun-seok said, “As face-to-face volunteer activities are expanding after COVID-19, I hope this volunteer service will be an opportunity for mutual growth between Daegu University of Oriental Medicine and the local community,” and encouraged them, “I hope that students will spend meaningful time reflecting on the value of volunteer service.” Meanwhile, Daegu University of Oriental Medicine is continuously carrying out various oriental medical volunteer activities in which professors, current students, and alumni oriental medicine doctors participate together to realize the founding philosophy of ‘common prosperity of humanity and contribution to the local community.’
