【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구한의대학교 웰니스융합대학 상담심리학과 전명남 교수(59)가 제6대 한국청소년상담학회 학회장으로 선출됐다. 임기는 2026년 1월부터 2년간이다.
전명남 교수는 그동안 한국청소년상담학회 제3·4대 부회장과 제5대 수석부회장을 역임하며 학회 운영과 발전에 기여해 왔으며, 풍부한 학술 및 현장 경험을 바탕으로 학회장직을 수행하게 된다.
전 교수는 연세대학교 학습지원부장, 국가청소년지도 법사위원, Torrance 창의력 한국본부위원 등을 지냈다. 경북대학교에서 학사와 석사 학위를 취득한 뒤 교육·상담심리 전공으로 박사 학위를 받았으며, 이후 한국연구재단 박사후과정(Post-Doc.)을 수행했다.
2011년부터 대구한의대학교에 재직 중인 전 교수는 교육학습지원센터 겸직교수, 평생교육원 프로그램개발부장, 시니어문화학교 교장 등 교내 주요 보직을 두루 맡아왔다. 또한 교육부 정책연구, 한국연구재단 학술지원연구를 비롯해 국내외 학회 이사 활동 등 활발한 대외 활동을 펼쳐왔으며, 이러한 연구 성과를 인정받아 2014년 대구한의대학교 조무상 연구기금을 수상했다.
아울러 전 교수는 세계 3대 인명사전 중 하나인 ‘마르퀴즈 후즈 후 인 더 월드(Marquis Who’s Who in the World)’ 2018년 제35판에 등재됐고, 이후 ‘마르퀴즈 후즈 후 평생공로상’을 수상하는 등 학문적 업적을 높이 평가받았다. 현재는 한국청소년상담학회 수련감독을 비롯해 한국상담학회 1급 전문상담사, 한국교육심리학회 학습·진로 컨설팅 전문가, 국제아들러치료사, 국제이마고치료사로 활동하고 있다.
한국청소년상담학회는 한국연구재단 등재지인 「한국청소년상담학회지」를 발간하는 전국 규모의 학술단체로, 청소년 상담 및 심리치료 분야의 연구·교육·실천을 연계하며 약 9,000여 명의 회원이 활동하고 있다.
전명남 학회장은 “청소년은 우리의 미래”라며 “청소년들이 건강하게 성장하고 마음껏 꿈꿀 수 있는 사회를 만드는 데 학회가 든든한 기반이 되도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Professor Jeon Myung-nam of Daegu Haany University Elected as the 6th President of the Korean Youth Counseling Association
Professor Jeon Myung-nam (59), Department of Counseling Psychology, College of Wellness Convergence, Daegu Haany University, has been elected as the 6th President of the Korean Youth Counseling Association. His term will be two years, beginning in January 2026.
Professor Jeon has contributed to the operation and development of the Korean Youth Counseling Association, serving as the 3rd and 4th Vice Presidents and the 5th Senior Vice President. He will assume the role of President based on his extensive academic and practical experience.
Professor Jeon previously served as Director of the Learning Support Department at Yonsei University, a member of the National Youth Guidance Legislation and Judiciary Committee, and a member of the Torrance Creativity Korea Center. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Kyungpook National University and his doctorate in educational and counseling psychology. He later completed a postdoctoral fellowship with the National Research Foundation of Korea.
Professor Jeon, who has been teaching at Daegu Haany University since 2011, has held various key positions on campus, including adjunct professor at the Education and Learning Support Center, director of program development at the Lifelong Education Center, and principal of the Senior Culture School. He has also been actively involved in external activities, including policy research for the Ministry of Education, academic support research from the National Research Foundation of Korea, and board membership at domestic and international academic societies. In recognition of his research achievements, he received the Cho Moo-sang Research Fund from Daegu Haany University in 2014.
Furthermore, Professor Jeon was included in the 35th edition of Marquis Who's Who in the World, one of the world's top three biographical dictionaries, in 2018. He was later awarded the Marquis Who's Who Lifetime Achievement Award, further acclaim for his academic achievements. He currently serves as a training director for the Korean Association of Youth Counseling, a Level 1 Professional Counselor for the Korean Counseling Association, a Learning and Career Consulting Specialist for the Korean Educational Psychology Association, and an International Adlerian and Imago Therapist.
The Korean Youth Counseling Association (KAC) is a nationwide academic organization that publishes the Journal of the Korean Youth Counseling Association, a journal registered with the National Research Foundation of Korea. It connects research, education, and practice in the fields of youth counseling and psychotherapy, with approximately 9,000 members.
