이번 과정은 ‘경상북도 유학생 요양보호사 교육훈련 지정대학 지원사업’에 선정된 데 따른 것으로, 다양한 배경을 지닌 인재들이 함께하는 포용적 교육 모델로 주목받고 있다.
교육 대상은 대구한의대에 재학 중인 외국인 유학생을 포함해 성인학습자, 지역사회 주민 등으로, 이론과 실습을 병행하며 요양보호사 자격 취득을 목표로 한다. 참가자들은 국적과 연령을 넘어 서로의 경험을 공유하며, 지역 돌봄 인력으로의 성장을 도모한다.
특히 대구한의대는 수료 후 외국인 유학생이 요양보호사 자격을 바탕으로 E-7(특정활동) 비자를 신청해 국내에서 합법적으로 취업할 수 있도록, 체계적인 진로 안내 및 행정 지원 체계를 구축하고 있다. 단순한 자격 교육을 넘어 취업과 정착까지 연계되는 통합형 프로그램이라는 점에서 실질적인 성과가 기대된다.
이 사업은 경상북도의 행정적 지원 아래 추진되며, 지역의 요양·돌봄 분야 인력 수요에 대응함과 동시에 사회통합을 위한 기반 마련이라는 이중 과제를 수행한다.
대학 관계자는 “이번 교육과정은 유학생에게는 체류 안정성과 진로 확장을, 성인학습자와 주민들에게는 자격 기반의 새로운 커리어 기회를 제공한다”며 “교육, 실습, 취업, 행정 전반을 아우르는 통합형 지원으로 모두가 지역 돌봄 전문가로 성장할 수 있도록 적극 뒷받침하겠다”고 밝혔다.
이어 “향후에도 실습 중심의 실효성 있는 프로그램을 확대하고, 지역사회 복지 향상에 실질적으로 기여하는 교육기관으로 자리매김하겠다”고 덧붙였다.
