【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=찜통더위가 기승을 부리는 여름, 대구의 공공도서관들이 ‘지식의 집’을 넘어 시민들의 ‘피서처’로 다시 태어났다. 대구시교육청 산하 10개 공공도서관은 7월부터 본격적인 폭염 대비 프로그램을 운영하며, 시원하고 여유로운 여름나기를 제안한다.

이번 여름 프로그램은 도서 전시, 영화 상영, 가족 체험행사 등 풍성한 콘텐츠로 구성됐다. ‘여름 건강’, ‘마음 치유’, ‘여행’, ‘무서운 이야기’ 등 계절과 어울리는 테마별 도서를 전시하고, 도서관 시청각실에서는 온 가족이 함께 즐길 수 있는 영화들이 상영된다.

운영 시간도 넉넉하다. 대부분의 도서관은 오전 9시부터 오후 7시까지 문을 열며, 국채보상·북부·수성도서관은 오후 10시까지 야간 연장 운영된다. 어린이자료실은 오전 9시부터 오후 6시까지 이용 가능하다.

가족 모두를 위한 공간으로 변신한 도서관

2·28기념학생도서관은 7월 15일부터 31일까지 매일 오후 2시, 228홀에서 전체 관람가 영화를 상영한다. 누구나 자유롭게 입장 가능해 가족 단위 관람객들의 발길이 이어질 전망이다.

국채보상운동기념도서관은 7월 19일 ‘잉글리쉬 매직쇼’ 공연과 함께, ‘올 여름 함께 할 북캉스 책은?’ 응모 이벤트 등 여름 특화 행사를 진행한다.

동부도서관은 우주와 모험을 주제로 영어도서를 전시하는 ‘Adventure Book of the Month’를 운영하고, 명언 필사로 나만의 책갈피를 만드는 체험 코너도 마련했다.

남부도서관은 ‘한여름 남부 시네마’를 통해 7월 16일부터 31일까지 수~금요일 오후 2시, 시청각실에서 영화를 상영한다.

북부도서관은 7월 19일 오전 ‘온가족 춤추는 도서관’이라는 이름으로 커뮤니티 댄스 행사를 연다. 같은 날 오후에는 교과서 속 이야기를 바탕으로 한 인형극 ‘토끼의 재판’이 무대에 오른다.

서부도서관은 도서관 로비에 실내 정원을 조성해 무더위를 피해 쉬어갈 수 있는 공간을 마련했으며, 영화 상영일도 주 3회로 확대했다.

두류도서관은 매주 4회(화·수·금·토) 다큐멘터리와 영화를 상영하고, 어린이실에서는 낱말 퀴즈와 세계여행 콘셉트의 체험행사도 운영한다.

수성도서관은 ‘한여름 수성도서관 쿨쿨 시네마’를 7월 15일부터 운영한다. 화·목·금·토요일 오후 2시, 미디어홀에서 영화를 상영한다.

달성도서관은 매주 일요일 오후 2시 가족 영화를 상영하며, 문화가 있는 날(7월 마지막 주 수요일)에는 역사 영화를 선보인다.

삼국유사군위도서관은 7월 29일부터 31일까지 ‘전설의 고향 2025: 귀신도 출근하기 싫은 날’이라는 제목으로 공포영화 시리즈를 상영한다.

행사 참여는 대부분 사전 신청 없이 자유롭게 가능하며, 일정 및 내용은 도서관별로 상이하므로 방문 전 각 도서관에 확인이 필요하다.

2·28기념학생도서관 김칠구 관장은 “무더위가 이어지는 여름, 도서관이 시민들의 몸과 마음을 쉬게 해주는 공간이 되고 있다”며 “책과 영화, 체험이 어우러진 북캉스로 모두가 여유롭고 시원한 여름을 보내시길 바란다”고 전했다.

A library transformed into a space for the whole family

The 2/28 Memorial Student Library will screen movies for all ages in Hall 228 from July 15 to 31 at 2 p.m. every day. Since anyone can enter freely, it is expected that families will flock to the library.

The National Debt Redemption Movement Memorial Library will hold a summer-specific event, such as the ‘English Magic Show’ performance on July 19 and the ‘What Book-Cance Books Will You Read This Summer?’ contest.

The Eastern Library will hold the ‘Adventure Book of the Month’, an exhibition of English books themed on space and adventure, and also have an experience corner where you can make your own bookmark by copying famous quotes.

The Southern Library will screen movies in the audiovisual room from July 16 to 31 at 2 p.m. every Wednesday to Friday through ‘Midsummer Southern Cinema.’

The Northern Library will hold a community dance event called ‘The Library Where the Whole Family Dances’ on the morning of July 19. In the afternoon of the same day, a puppet show based on a story from a textbook, “The Rabbit’s Trial,” will be held on stage.

The Seobu Library has created an indoor garden in the library lobby to provide a space to escape the heat and has also expanded the number of movie screenings to three times a week.

The Duryu Library screens documentaries and movies four times a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday), and also runs word quizzes and world travel-themed experiential events in the children’s room.

The Suseong Library will run the “Summer Suseong Library Cool Cool Cinema” starting July 15. Movies will be screened at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in the media hall.

The Dalseong Library screens family movies every Sunday at 2 p.m., and presents historical movies on Culture Day (the last Wednesday of July).

Samguk Yusa Gunwi Library will screen a series of horror films titled “Hometown of Legends 2025: A Day Even Ghosts Don’t Want to Go to Work” from July 29 to 31.

Participation in the event is free and mostly without prior application, but since the schedule and content differ by library, you should check with each library before visiting.

Director Kim Chil-gu of the 2/28 Memorial Student Library said, “In the hot summer, libraries are becoming a place where citizens can rest their bodies and minds,” and added, “I hope everyone will have a leisurely and cool summer with the Bookcance that combines books, movies, and experiences.”
