【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=한국장학재단은 30일 제7대 이사장으로 박창달 전 국회의원이 취임했다고 밝혔다.
신임 박창달 이사장은 임원추천위원회의 공개모집과 심사를 거쳐 교육부 장관의 제청으로 대통령이 임명했으며, 임기는 2026년 3월 30일부터 2029년 3월 29일까지 3년이다.
박 이사장은 향후 경제적 여건과 관계없이 누구나 의지와 능력에 따라 고등교육 기회를 누릴 수 있도록 청년 교육 및 미래 인재 양성을 위한 맞춤형 지원 정책을 추진할 계획이다. 특히 대학생 등록금과 주거비 부담 완화를 위한 지원 사업에 중점을 둘 방침이다.
박 이사장은 한국외국어대학교 독일어학 학사와 영남대학교 행정대학원 정책분석학 석사 학위를 취득했으며, 제15·16·17대 국회의원과 한국자유총연맹 총재, 대한민국헌정회 대구광역시 지회장 등을 역임했다.
한편, 한국장학재단은 이날 재단 대회의실에서 신임 이사장 취임식을 개최했다.
2009년 5월 설립된 한국장학재단은 교육부 산하 준정부기관으로, 국가장학금 및 학자금대출 지원을 비롯해 대학생 기숙사 운영, 인재 육성 지원, 학자금 통계 조사·분석, 채권 발행 및 기부금 관리 등의 역할을 수행하고 있다.
