이날 협약을 통해 건전한 기부문화 확산을 위한 참여분위기 조성과 기부제도 홍보, 고향사랑기부제 성공적 정착을 위한 행․재정 지원 등에 대해 상호 협력하기로 했다.
또한 답례품의 안정적인 공급을 위한 유통개발과 기부편의 제고, 지역에서 생산․채취․제조한 농산물, 축산물, 수산물 및 임산물 등 지역특산품 발굴․공급을 통한 지역경제 활성화와 기부자 만족도 제고를 위해 협력하기로 했다.
이철우 경북도지사는 “이번 협약을 통해 내년부터 시행하는 고향사랑 기부제가 지방에 힘이 되고, 기부자에게는 보람이 될 수 있도록 운영하겠다”며 “고향사랑기부제가 지방시대로 나아가기 위한 지방재정 확충의 마중물 역할이 되도록 하겠다”고 밝혔다.
