【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=일본 우사시의회가 16일 경주시의회(의장 이동협)를 방문해 양 의회 간의 우호를 증진하는 시간을 가졌다.
양 시의회 간의 우호관계를 강화하고 상호 존중과 협력 아래 양 시의 국제교류를 촉진하기 위한 목적으로 경주시를 방문한 우사시의회 방문단(총 11명)은 단장인 나가마쓰 가오루 의장을 비롯하여 총무상무위원회 소속 의원 등 8명의 의원과 직원 3명으로 구성되어 있다.
일본 규슈 지방에 위치한 우사시는 신라시대 문화유산과의 유사성 등으로 미루어 볼 때 신라의 영향을 많이 받은 곳으로 추정되며, 이러한 역사적 배경을 바탕으로 경주시와 1992년 우호결연을 체결했고 2023년에는 자매도시 협정을 체결했다.
우사시의회가 방문함에 따라 경주시의회는 16일 소회의실에서 교류협력 협정서와 기념품을 교환했으며, 이튿날인 17일에는 의회운영 및 국제교류 사업을 주제로 하는 연수과정과 향후의 교류 방식에 대해 논의하는 의견 교환회 등의 일정을 소화했다.
우사시의회는 남은 일정동안 경주의 문화유산 및 관광지에 대한 시찰을 진행한 후 18일 귀국하게 된다.
이번 방문에 대해 이동협 경주시의회 의장은 “우사시의회에서 먼저 경주시를 방문해준 것에 대해 감사드리며, 이번 만남이 양 도시의 교류 활성화의 계기가 됨과 동시에, 국제적인 식견을 함양하는 등 양 시의회의 발전에도 기여할 것이라 확신한다.”고 평했다.
이에 대해 나가마쓰 가오루 우사시의회 의장은 “방문단의 환대에 감사드리며, 향후 경주시의회와 우사시의회가 매년 방문·교류함으로써 우호를 더욱 돈독히 다지기를 희망한다.”고 화답했다.
