【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경주시의회(의장 이동협) 의원연구단체인 ‘경주 포스트 APEC 전략연구회’는 22일 시의회 소회의실에서 ‘APEC 이후 경주의 지속가능한 발전 전략 수립 연구용역’ 착수보고회를 열었다.

‘경주 포스트 APEC 전략연구회’는 정희택 대표의원을 비롯해 이락우·한순희·정성룡 의원이 참여하고 있으며, 이번 연구는 2025 APEC 정상회의의 성과를 경주의 미래 발전에 적극 반영할 수 있는 전략 마련에 초점을 맞추고 있다.

연구는 동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스 산학협력단(이영찬 교수)과 협력해 진행되며, 자료수집과 현장조사, 전문가 세미나, 중간보고회를 거쳐 최종보고서와 정책자료집을 도출할 계획이다. 연구결과는 향후 도시 발전 전략과 국제행사 대응 정책에 활용될 예정이다.

이날 보고회에서는 연구 배경과 필요성, 추진 방향, APEC 성과를 통한 국제회의도시 위상 확립과 지역 발전 연계 방안 등이 제시됐다.

정희택 대표의원은 “APEC 정상회의 효과가 일회성에 그치지 않고 경주가 지속가능한 글로벌 도시로 도약할 수 있도록 실효성 있는 정책과 전략 마련이 필요하다”며 “전문가 자문과 지속적인 논의를 통해 의미 있는 연구 성과를 내겠다”고 강조했다.

한편 경주시의회는 이번 연구용역을 계기로 지역 균형발전, 도시브랜드 가치 제고, 국제협력 네트워크 강화 등 다각적인 관점에서 시민과 지역사회의 의견을 반영한 포스트 APEC 정책을 마련할 방침이다.

Gyeongju City Council Holds Launch Report Meeting for 'Post-APEC Strategy Research Group'

The 'Gyeongju Post-APEC Strategy Research Group,' a research group of members of the Gyeongju City Council (Chairman Lee Dong-hyeop), held a launch report meeting for the 'Research Group on Establishing a Sustainable Development Strategy for Gyeongju Post-APEC' in the city council's small conference room on the 22nd.

The 'Gyeongju Post-APEC Strategy Research Group,' comprised of Representative Councilor Jeong Hee-taek, along with Councilors Lee Rak-woo, Han Soon-hee, and Jeong Seong-ryong, focuses on developing a strategy to actively incorporate the outcomes of the 2025 APEC Summit into Gyeongju's future development.

The research will be conducted in collaboration with the Dongguk University WISE Campus Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation (Professor Lee Young-chan). The research will involve data collection, fieldwork, expert seminars, and interim reports, resulting in a final report and policy document. The findings will be utilized in future urban development strategies and policies for responding to international events.

The briefing session presented the research background and necessity, direction, and plans for establishing Gyeongju's status as an international conference city through APEC achievements and linking it with regional development.

Representative Council Member Jeong Hee-taek emphasized, "To ensure that the APEC Summit's impact is not a one-time event but rather that Gyeongju can leap forward as a sustainable global city, we need to develop effective policies and strategies." He added, "We will produce meaningful research results through expert advice and ongoing discussions."

Meanwhile, the Gyeongju City Council plans to use this research project as an opportunity to develop post-APEC policies that reflect the opinions of citizens and the local community from various perspectives, including balanced regional development, enhancing the city's brand value, and strengthening international cooperation networks.
