【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=경주시의회 국책사업추진 및 원전특별위원회(위원장 오상도)는 5일 관내 원자력 관련 시설에 대한 현장점검을 실시했다고 밝혔다.
이번 현장방문은 경주시의 주요 원자력 시설인 월성원전, 원자력환경공단 처분장(코라디움), 중수로해체기술원 건설현장, 혁신원자력연구단지(문무대왕과학연구소) 등 총 4개소를 방문하는 일정으로 진행됐다.
가장 먼저 방문한 월성원전에서는 원전 전반의 운영 현황에 대해 청취하고 건식 저장시설의 중저준위 폐기물 관리현황을 보고받았으며, 원자력환경공단 처분장에서는 폐기물 인수 검사시설과 동굴매립형 처분장에 대한 점검을 진행했다.
또한 중수로해체기술원 건설현장을 찾아가 진행상황을 확인하고 현장 내 안전사고에 대해 각별히 유의할 것을 주문했으며, 혁신원자력연구단지의 우선 시공분 준공 현황 및 차후 추진 일정에 대해 보고받는 것을 끝으로 현장방문 일정을 마무리했다.
오상도 위원장은 “우리시에는 각종 원자력 관련 시설들이 위치하고 있어 시의회에서도 관련 분야의 전문지식을 갖추기 위해 항상 노력하고 있다.”며 “경주시민의 안전을 위해 원전 및 폐기물 처리에 대하여 지속적으로 관심을 가지고, 미래 산업으로 각광받는 원자력 산업을 육성하여 경주시 발전에 기여할 수 있도록 우리 경주시의회가 앞장서겠다.”고 밝혔다.
