【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=한국가스공사(사장 최연혜, 이하 가스공사)는 전라북도전주와 완주지역 간 배관 15km와 공급관리소 2개소를 신설하고 상업운전을 개시했다고 31일 밝혔다.

가스공사에 따르면 이번 사업은 제 13차 장기 천연가스수급계획에 따라 지속적으로 늘어나고 있는 전주와 완주 지역의 천연가스 수요에 대응하고자시행됐다.

총 사업비 540억 원을 투입해 약 2년에 걸쳐 배관과 공급관리소 건설을 완료했다.

이번 사업으로 가스공사는 9만여 세대와 200여 곳의 산업체등에 연간 최대 약 14만 7천 톤의 천연가스를 신규로 공급할 예정이다.

한편, 가스공사는 이번 15km의 배관 확충과 함께, 내년 1월 완주와진안지역을 잇는 44km의 배관 건설을 완료해 총 623km에 이르는환상배관망을 전북지역에 완성할 계획이다.

환상배관망은 배관이 동그란 띠를 이루면서 한 쪽의 가스 공급이 중단되더라도 다른 쪽 배관으로 우회하여 천연가스를 공급하는 것으로, 가스공사는 환상배관망 구축으로 전북지역에 더욱 안정적으로 천연가스를 공급할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

가스공사 관계자는 “전북 북부권 가스 배관망을 더욱 촘촘하게 구축해 지역주민들의 편익 향상과 함께 지역경제 활성화에도 크게 기여할 것”이라며, “가스공사는 앞으로도 안정적인 천연가스 공급을통해 국민께 따뜻함을 전하는 에너지 파수꾼이 되겠다”고 말했다.
