가스공사는 8일 중동 지역 전쟁에 따른 정부의 자원안보 위기경보 발령에 발맞춰 범국민적 에너지 절약 참여를 유도하고 실천 문화를 확산하기 위해 이번 캠페인을 마련했다고 밝혔다.

이날 캠페인은 대구 두류네거리 일대에서 진행됐으며, 시민들을 대상으로 △승용차 5부제 참여 △대중교통 이용 △실내 적정온도 유지 △도시가스 절약 캐시백 참여 등 생활 속 실천 방안을 안내했다.

특히 가스공사는 온수 사용량 절감을 위한 ‘샤워 시간 줄이기’ 실천을 집중 홍보하며, 누구나 쉽게 참여할 수 있는 에너지 절약 습관 확산에 주력했다.

가스공사는 향후 매주 월요일 출근 시간대(오전 8시 30분~10시)에 반월당, 동성로, 대구역 등 유동 인구가 많은 지역을 중심으로 캠페인을 지속적으로 전개할 계획이다.

가스공사 관계자는 “천연가스는 국민 생활과 국가 산업에 필수적인 에너지인 만큼 어떤 위기 상황에서도 안정적인 수급을 유지할 수 있도록 철저히 대응하겠다”며 “샤워 시간 줄이기 등 일상 속 작은 실천이 에너지 위기 극복에 큰 힘이 되는 만큼 국민들의 적극적인 참여를 부탁드린다”고 말했다.
