19일 청송군에 따르면 ‘생태계보전부담금 반환사업’은 개발사업으로 인한 자연환경 훼손과 생물 다양성 감소를 방지하기 위해, 개발사업자가 납부한 생태계보전부담금을 활용해 훼손된 지역의 생태계를 복원하는 환경부 공모사업이다.

군은 이번 사업을 통해 신성리 공룡발자국 화석산지 일대의 지방도 선형 개량 과정에서 폐도부지로 방치된 공간을 복원하여 생태모델숲, 밀원초화원, 조류유인숲, 생태학습장 등을 조성하고, 생태습지를 만들어 생태교육 학습의 장으로 만들어갈 계획이다.

또한, 생물서식처 복원과 습지 조성을 통해 단절된 연점산 산림생태계를 연결하고, 신성리 공룡발자국 지질명소를 방문하는 유‧아동 동반 관광객들에게 다양한 체험 기회를 제공할 수 있는 공간으로 활용할 예정이다. 이를 통해 청송유네스코세계지질공원 활성화에도 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

윤경희 청송군수는 “2025년은 군 재정이 어려운 시기인데, 전액 국비로 추진되는 공모사업에 선정되어 매우 기쁘다.”라며, “방치된 폐도부지의 생태복원을 통해 학생들의 교육장으로 활용해 미래세대가 기후변화 대응과 생태계의 중요성을 인식할 수 있도록 하겠다.”고 말했다.
