이번 행사는 선남면 이장협의회, 새마을회, 그리고 기타 사회단체 회원 약 200여 명이 참여한 가운데, 성주군의 주요 도로인 국도 30호선 도로변과 낙동강 및 백천 하천변에서 대대적인 환경정화 활동을 펼쳤다. 

이들은 마라톤 대회를 맞아 성주를 방문하는 외지 방문객들에게 깨끗하고 살기 좋은 성주군 이미지를 제공하고, 탄소중립 실천의 일환으로 환경정화에 대한 참여의식을 높이는 데 기여했다.

조익현 선남면장은 "참외 출하기를 맞아 바쁜 시기임에도 지역발전을 위해 많이 참석해 주셔서 감사하며, 선남면은 성주의 관문으로서 항상 깨끗하고 살기 좋은 성주 이미지를 제고하기 위해 힘쓰겠다"고 전했다.

이병환 성주군수는 "성주참외 마라톤 대회를 앞두고 성주의 관문인 선남면에서 사회단체 회원들이 ‘줍깅데이’ 릴레이 활동에 앞장서 주셔서 감사하다"며, "일상생활 속에서 탄소중립을 생활화하여 성주군이 탄소중립 실천의 메카로 자리매김하기를 바란다"고 말했다.

Seongju-gun Seonnam-myeon, 'No Trash Day, Picking Day' Environmental Cleanup Activity Held

Seongju-gun Seonnam-myeon (Chief Jo Ik-hyeon) announced that it held the 'No Trash Day, Picking Day' event, a nationwide movement to practice carbon neutrality, on the 6th, in hopes of the successful hosting of the '2025 Seongju Melon National Marathon' scheduled for March 9th.

This event was attended by approximately 200 members of the Seonnam-myeon Village Chief Council, Saemaul Movement, and other social groups, and carried out large-scale environmental cleanup activities along National Route 30, the main road in Seongju-gun, and along the Nakdong River and Baekcheon River.

They contributed to providing visitors from other regions who visit Seongju with the image of Seongju-gun as a clean and livable place to live, and to raising awareness of participation in environmental cleanup as part of carbon neutrality practices.

Cho Ik-hyeon, the head of Seonnam-myeon, said, "I am grateful for the many people who attended the event despite the busy time for the melon harvesting season, and Seonnam-myeon will always strive to improve the image of Seongju as a clean and livable place as the gateway to Seongju."

Lee Byeong-hwan, the mayor of Seongju-gun, said, "I am grateful that the members of social groups in Seonnam-myeon, the gateway to Seongju, took the lead in the 'Picking Day' relay activity ahead of the Seongju Melon Marathon," and added, "I hope that by making carbon neutrality a part of everyday life, Seongju-gun will establish itself as a mecca for practicing carbon neutrality."
