이번 활동은 2025년 6월 13일(금) 진행됐으며, 참여자들은 주거환경이 열악한 어르신의 댁을 찾아 마당에 쌓인 쓰레기 수거, 집안 청소 및 정돈, 노후 전기시설 점검 및 보수 작업 등을 함께 하며 생활 기반 정비에 나섰다.
특히 냉장고가 없어 식재료 보관에 큰 불편을 겪던 어르신을 위해 새 냉장고를 직접 구입해 전달하며, 실질적인 생활지원을 병행했다. 이는 단순한 일회성 봉사에서 벗어나 주민의 삶에 실질적인 변화를 이끌어내는 체감형 복지 실천이라는 점에서 의미를 더한다.
김영기 성주읍지역사회보장협의체 민간위원장은 “불편한 환경 속에서 지내시던 어르신께 조금이나마 도움을 드릴 수 있어 보람을 느낀다”며 “앞으로도 현장의 어려움을 발로 뛰며 살피고 실효성 있는 복지를 실천하겠다”고 말했다.
배해석 성주읍장도 “이번 활동은 어르신의 일상에 실제로 긍정적 변화를 가져온 뜻깊은 사례”라며 “복지 사각지대 해소를 위해 지속적으로 현장을 점검하고, 세심한 행정을 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다. 이어 “이번 활동에 적극 참여해주신 협의체와 생활개선회, 자활센터에 감사드리며, 이러한 민관 협력의 노력이 행복한 성주를 만들어가는 원동력이 되기를 바란다”고 덧붙였다.
