삶의 가치와 품격을 높이는 생명문화도시 성주 조성   

국민의 여가와 문화예술활동이 국가 경쟁력의 새로운 지표가 되고 있다. 이에 성주군은 문화적인 삶 확산을 위해 고유문화자원을 바탕으로 사업을 펼치고 있다.

주요사업으로는 문화특화지역 조성사업이 있다. 총예산 37억 5천만 원으로 2020년부터 진행되어온 사업은 올해 마지막 5년차에 접어들었다. 

사업의 가장 큰 성과는 자발적인 주민참여문화 확산이다. 문화의 소비자에서 생산자로 여가활동과 취미활동이, 지역문화 예술인으로 거듭나는 기회가 된 것이다. 

지난 3월에는 관내 문화예술단체 활성화 지원사업인 ‘즐거운 문화 탐구생활’을 통해 32개 참여단체를 선정하고 문화예술 활동을 지원했다.

지난 4월부터 8월까지 매주 일요일 오후에는 ‘성밖숲 힐링버스킹’이 진행됐다.

33개 단체, 약 143명의 대구·경북 아마추어 예술가들이 참여한 버스킹 공연은 성주의 대표 랜드마크인 아름다운 성밖숲 왕버들나무를 배경으로 풍요롭고 다채로운 볼거리를 제공했다는 평을 받았다.       

올해 문화특화지역조성사업 중 제일 활발하게 추진한 ‘들썩 들썩 우리마을 예술 배송’사업은 주민들이 관객인 동시에 참여하는 방식의 소통 공연이다.

지난 6월 가천면 법전리를 시작으로, 초전면 소성리, 벽진면 봉계1리, 월항면 보암2리 등 관내 문화취약지역에서 가수 공연, 동아리 공연, 주민 노래자랑 등을 선보여 지역문화 공감대 형성에 큰 역할을 했다.

성밖숲 맥문동을 배경으로 한 ‘퍼플피플 음악회’, 읍·면과  유관기관 협업으로 추진한 ‘별고을 마을축제’, 소성리 어르신들과 함께한 ‘소성리 마을미술 프로젝트’ 등 군민들의 눈높이에 맞춘 다채로운 사업들을 추진했다.

이와 함께 유휴공간의 문화기반시설을 확충했다. 문화거점 공간 조성사업으로 2020년 노후화된 심산기념관을 리모델링해 각종 회의, 연습실, 공연장으로 활용하고 있다.

연말 집중되는 전시회의 수요를 충족하고, 지역 예술단체의 커뮤니티 공간으로 활용하기위해 별고을 아트센터 2층에 제2전시실인 가야홀을 조성하기도 했다.

미래가치를 품고 새롭게 도약하는 국가유산

온전하고 지속가능한 국가(향토)유산 보존관리를 통해 역사적 가치를 향상하고  선제적․능동적 위기 대응으로 국가유산 피해 저감 등 국가유산 보존에 최선을 다하고 있다.

지정된 77개의 국가유산 이외에도 관내에 산재한 향토유산을 효율적으로 관리하고 상시로 예초, 청소 등 돌봄 사업을 실시해 보전·전승에 많은 노력을 기울이고 있다.

특히 천연기념물인 성밖숲은 미래가치 보존을 넘어 활용가치를 담은 지역의 대표 국가유산이다.

지난 태풍 때 집중호우로 왕버들이 도복되고 산책로가 훼손되는 등 심한 피해를 입었지만 발 빠른 대처로 예산을 확보했다.

이를 통해 왕버들을 세우고 신속하게 산책로를 정비해 건강하고 행복한 삶과 쉼이 있는 공간으로 거듭났다.

8월에는 보랏빛 맥문동 물결과 노거수 왕버들이 이색적인 자연의 모습을 그리며 관광객뿐만 아니라 전국에서 출사의 발걸음이 이어지고 있다.

성주군은 ‘문화유산 문턱은 낮게, 프로그램 품격은 높게, 군민 행복은 크게’라는 목표로 잠들어 있는 문화유산의 가치와 의미를 새롭게 발견하고 교육·문화·관광 콘텐츠화하고 있다.

매년 지역문화유산 활용사업으로 태실의 고장에서 즐기는 태교 힐링여행과 사람냄새 풍기는 성주향교 인성사랑 캠프, 회연서원의 백매원 카페, 무흘구곡투어 등이 진행된다.

2024 성주 성산동 고분군 전시관 특별전 개최, 성주의 태실

성주 성산동 고분군 전시관에서는 매년 새로운 주제로 특별기획전을 개최해 관람객들을 유치하고 성주의 역사를 널리 알리는 데에 힘쓰고 있다.

10월에는 ‘성주의 태실’을 주제로 한 특별기획전을 통해 새로운 볼거리를 제공할 예정이다.

성주에는 태종 태실, 세조 태실을 비롯한 세종대왕자 태실과 단종 태실이 위치해있어 ‘생명의 고장’으로 불리기도 한다.

이번 전시에서는 태실 관련 유물을 역대 최대 규모로 선보인다. 조선시대의 생명 존중 문화와 태실의 유물을 알기 쉽게 정리해 관람객에게 전달하고 길지(吉地)로서의 성주를 조명함과 더불어 태실의 세계유산 등재를 위한 발판을 마련하고자 한다.

전시는 성주의 태실에서 출토된 유물을 중심으로 조선왕실의 장태문화와  안태의식, 태실의 구조 등을 알 수 있는 자료로 구성될 예정이다. 

국립중앙박물관, 국립고궁박물관 등 전국 6개 박물관에서 대여한 성주의  태실 유물을 한 자리에 전시해 관람객들에게 풍성한 볼거리를 제공할 계획이다.

특별기획전은 10월부터 12월까지 약 2개월간 진행될 예정이며 성주 성산동 고분군 전시관 다목적 강당에서 무료로 관람할 수 있다. 

문화 1번지, 성주문화예술회관으로 놀러오세요  

2024년 성주문화예술회관에서는 총 20여 회의 공연이 개최되었으며, 대중가수 콘서트, 오페라, 뮤지컬, 아동극, 합창 공연, 기획전시회 등 다양한 장르를  아우르는 프로그램이 관객들의 큰 호응을 얻었다. 

경북문화재단의 공연장 상주단체 지원사업을 통해 지역에서 관람하기 어려운 오페라 공연 및 음악극을 유치했다.

유래없이 더웠던 7월의 한 여름밤에 미스터 트롯 가수 이찬원·장민호를 초청한 ‘성주여름서리 콘서트’는 지역민뿐만 아니라 전국에서 몰려든 팬클럽 등 약 9,000여명의 관객들에게 웃음과 음악을 선물했다.

(재)세종문화회관 서울시 합창단과 성주군 합창단의 ‘모두의 합창’ 공연은 자매 도시간의 우호 관계를 다지는 계기가 됐다.

2025년 성주문화예술회관에서는 모든 연령층이 즐길 수 있는 공연을 지속 기획할 예정이다.

또한 지역사회와의 협력 강화해 지역 주민들이 참여할 수 있는 공연문화 프로그램을 개발하고, 학교 및 단체와의 협력으로 공연 관람 기회를 제공할 예정이다.

관객의 의견을 적극 반영하기 위해 설문조사 및 피드백 프로그램을 운영해 더욱 만족도 높은 공연을 제공할 방침이다.

성주군 합창단, 성주군 어린이합창단의 활동을 통해 지역민들의 건전한 여가 선용의 기회 확대와 각종 행사 참여로 문화 성주의 이미지 제고에 기여할 것이다.

The busking performances by 33 groups and approximately 143 amateur artists from Daegu and Gyeongbuk were evaluated as providing a rich and diverse spectacle against the backdrop of the beautiful Seongbaek Forest royal willow trees, a representative landmark of Seongju.

The ‘Delivering Our Village Art Delivery’ project, which was most actively promoted among the cultural specialization area development projects this year, is a communication performance in which residents participate as both audience members and participants.

Starting with Beopjeon-ri, Gachon-myeon in June, singer performances, club performances, and resident singing contests were presented in culturally underprivileged areas within the district, including Soseong-ri, Chojeon-myeon, Bonggye 1-ri, Byeokjin-myeon, and Boam 2-ri, Wolhang-myeon, playing a major role in forming a regional cultural consensus.

Various projects were promoted that were tailored to the eye level of the county residents, such as the ‘Purple People Concert’ with the Seongbaek Forest Maekmundong as the backdrop, the ‘Byeolgoeul Village Festival’ promoted in collaboration with towns, counties, and related organizations, and the ‘Soseong-ri Village Art Project’ with the senior citizens of Soseong-ri.

National heritage that embraces future value and takes a new leap forward

We are doing our best to preserve national heritage by enhancing historical value through complete and sustainable national (local) heritage preservation and management and reducing damage to national heritage through preemptive and active crisis response.

In addition to the 77 designated national heritages, we are making great efforts to preserve and pass on local heritage scattered throughout the region by efficiently managing them and regularly conducting care projects such as preserving and cleaning them.

In particular, the Seongbaek Forest, a natural monument, is a representative national heritage of the region that goes beyond preservation of future value and contains utilization value.

During the last typhoon, heavy rain caused severe damage such as the willow trees falling and the walking path being damaged, but the budget was secured through quick response.

Through this, the willow trees were planted and the walking path was quickly renovated, creating a space for a healthy and happy life and rest.

In August, the purple Ophiopogon japonicus waves and old willow trees create a unique natural landscape, attracting not only tourists but also people from all over the country.

Seongju-gun is rediscovering the value and meaning of dormant cultural heritage and turning it into educational, cultural, and tourism content with the goal of ‘low cultural heritage threshold, high program quality, and great happiness for the county residents.’

Every year, as a local cultural heritage utilization project, prenatal healing trips enjoyed in the hometown of the placenta, Seongjuhyanggyo Inseong Sarang Camp with a human touch, Baekmaewon Cafe at Hoeyeon Seowon, and Muheulgukgok Tour are held.

2024 Seongju Seongsan-dong Ancient Tombs Exhibition Hall Special Exhibition, Seongju's Placenta

The Seongju Seongsan-dong Ancient Tombs Exhibition Hall holds special exhibitions with new themes every year to attract visitors and promote the history of Seongju.

In October, a special exhibition themed on 'Seongju's Placenta' will provide new things to see.

Seongju is also called the 'Land of Life' because it is home to the Placenta of Taejong, Sejo, Sejong the Great, and Danjong.

This exhibition will present the largest collection of placenta-related artifacts ever. It aims to easily organize the Joseon Dynasty's culture of respect for life and the artifacts from the placenta to convey them to visitors, and to highlight Seongju as a place of good fortune, while laying the foundation for the registration of the placenta as a World Heritage Site.

The exhibition will consist of artifacts excavated from the placenta of Seongju, along with materials that will help visitors understand the Joseon royal burial culture, ceremonies for comfort, and the structure of the placenta.

The National Museum of Korea, the National Palace Museum, and six other museums across the country will exhibit the relics of Seongju's birthplace in one place, providing visitors with a wealth of things to see.

The special exhibition will be held for approximately two months from October to December and can be viewed for free at the multipurpose auditorium of the Seongju Seongsan-dong Ancient Tombs Exhibition Hall.

Come visit Seongju Cultural Arts Center, the cultural hub

In 2024, a total of 20 performances were held at Seongju Cultural Arts Center, and programs covering various genres such as popular singer concerts, operas, musicals, children's plays, choir performances, and special exhibitions received great responses from the audience.

Through the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation's support project for resident performance groups, opera performances and musicals that are difficult to see in the region were attracted.

The ‘Seongju Summer Frost Concert’, which invited Mr. Trot singers Lee Chan-won and Jang Min-ho on a hot summer night in July, presented laughter and music to about 9,000 audience members, including local residents and fan clubs from all over the country.

The ‘Everyone’s Choir’ performance by the Seoul City Choir and Seongju-gun Choir of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts served as an opportunity to strengthen friendly relations between sister cities.

In 2025, the Seongju Cultural Arts Center plans to continue planning performances that all age groups can enjoy.
