영양군은 이번 산불로 인해 사망 7명, 산림 6,854ha, 주택 등 건축물 141동, 농기계 970여 대 등 막대한 피해가 발생했다. 이에 군은 오는 6월 30일까지 고향사랑기부 특정사업지정기부제를 운영 중이며, 현재까지(4월 21일 기준) 모금액은 3억 3천만 원으로 목표액 20억 원 대비 16.5%에 그치고 있는 상황이다.

오도창 영양군수는 “하루아침에 삶의 터전을 잃은 이재민들에게 희망을 전하기 위해 많은 분들의 관심과 동참이 절실하다”며 “기부금은 전액 산불 피해 복구에 투명하게 사용될 예정인 만큼, 보다 많은 참여를 부탁드린다”고 전했다.
