【브레이크뉴스 영양】이성현 기자=경북 북부에 위치한 영양군(군수 오도창)은 수년간 인구절벽 문제를 겪고 있으며, 이를 극복하기 위해 다양한 노력을 기울이고 있다고 27일 밝혔다.

이를 위해 영양군은 23년 12월 양수발전소 유치를 통해 150여 명의 일자리를 창출하고, 건설공사로 인력 수요가 증가하면서 숙박시설과 식당 등 지역 경제에 활기를 불어넣었다. 

또한, 지난 24일에는 영양소방서가 업무를 시작하면서 상주직원 106명이 근무하게 되어 정주인구 증가에 큰 변곡점을 일으킬 것으로 예상된다.

이외에도 영양군은 지방소멸대응기금을 활용해 영양읍에 체류형 전원마을 10호와 청기면에 조성되는 정주형 작은 농원을 개발 중이다.

이 프로젝트는 임대형 전원주택과 스마트팜을 결합한 농업 체험시설을 통해 주거와 소득을 동시에 해결하는 새로운 모델로, 귀농‧귀촌 수요를 반영한 출향인과 은퇴자들의 새로운 정착시설을 제공할 계획이다. 이를 통해 영양군은 지역성장동력의 기반을 마련할 예정이다.

또한, 영양군은 군민들의 결혼 및 양육 부담을 덜기 위한 다양한 지원책을 마련했다. 올해부터 결혼비용 지원사업을 부부 각각 300만 원씩 지원하는 방식으로 변경해 총 600만 원의 혜택을 제공하며, ‘청년부부만들기 사업’의 결혼장려금을 기존 1회 500만 원에서 500만 원씩 3년간 총 1,500만 원으로 확대 시행한다. 

또한, 출산장려금도 확대해 첫째는 월 20만 원, 둘째는 월 30만 원, 셋째는 월 40만 원으로 지원을 강화한다.

오도창 영양군수는 “군민들에게 실질적인 도움이 되는 정책을 추진해나가겠다”며, “저출산 문제의 근본적인 해결을 위해 가족 친화적인 문화 정착이 중요하다”고 강조했다.
