이번 훈련은 방사선 비상 사고 발생 시 신속히 대응해 국민의 생명과 재산을 보호하고 환경 피해를 최소화하기 위해 마련됐다. 원자력안전위원회와 한국원자력안전기술원의 점검 하에 실시되었으며, 지진 발생 상황을 가정해 이동형 비상 설비를 활용한 사고 관리 전략과 조직·이행 체계의 실효성을 실제 상황처럼 점검했다.

이세용 본부장은 “이번 훈련은 방사능방재와 중대사고 대응을 연계한 전체 훈련으로, 극한 재해 상황에서도 한울본부가 체계적이고 즉각적으로 대응할 수 있는 능력을 점검하고 강화하는 계기가 됐다”며 “앞으로도 반복 훈련을 통해 위기 상황에 적극적으로 대응할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) Hanul Nuclear Power Plant Headquarters (Director Lee Se-yong) announced that it conducted a radiation emergency drill for Shin-Hanul Unit 1 on November 20th.
