 청송군은 2026년 1월 10일부터 11일까지 이틀간 주왕산면 얼음골 일원에서 ‘2026 UIAA 청송 아이스클라이밍 월드컵’을 개최하기 위한 본격 준비에 돌입했다고 밝혔다.

이번 대회는 국제산악연맹(UIAA)과 대한산악연맹이 공동 주최하며, 청송군과 경상북도산악연맹이 공동 주관한다. 노스페이스, 아웃도어리서치, DYPNF 등이 후원사로 참여하는 국제 대회로, 산불 피해를 극복하고 재도약을 선언하는 청송군의 의지를 세계에 알릴 상징적 이벤트가 될 것으로 기대된다.

특히 올해 대회는 단순한 국제 스포츠 경기를 넘어 지역민이 직접 참여해 만드는 ‘주민 참여형 대회’로 운영된다. 지역 상인과 주민이 함께하는 먹거리 부스, 다양한 체험 프로그램, 축하 공연 등 부대행사가 마련돼 선수, 관람객, 지역민이 함께 즐기는 공동체 축제로 펼쳐질 전망이다.

청송군 관계자는 “이번 대회는 다시 일어서는 청송의 희망을 전 세계에 전하는 의미 있는 무대가 될 것”이라며 “선수들의 도전 정신을 응원하고, 주민과 관람객이 함께 즐길 수 있는 축제를 통해 지역경제 활성화와 공동체 회복이라는 두 가지 목표를 모두 달성할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
