예천군은 1월 30일 오전 9시 30분 김학동 예천군수가 경상북도를 방문해 이철우 경북도지사와 면담을 갖고, 대구·경북 행정통합과 관련한 주요 현안과 제도·재정·산업 전반에 대한 건의 사항을 전달했다고 밝혔다.

김학동 군수는 면담에서 “경북도청 이전과 신도시 조성은 낙후된 경북 북부권의 균형발전을 위해 중앙정부와 경상북도가 도민에게 약속한 국가적 사업”이라며 “대구·경북이 통합되더라도 이 약속이 흔들림 없이 이행되는 것이 무엇보다 중요하다”고 강조했다.

이어 “통합의 방향뿐만 아니라 통합 이후 지역이 실제로 어떻게 작동할 것인지에 대한 구체적인 준비가 필요한 시점”이라며 “기초자치단체의 현실과 주민 체감도가 충분히 반영될 때 정책의 완성도와 현장 수용성도 함께 높아질 것”이라고 덧붙였다.

예천군은 이날 ▲경북·대구통합특별시 행정 중심 기능의 경북도청 신도시 명확화 ▲경북 북부권 재정지원 인센티브 및 자치권 보장 ▲정부 및 공공기관의 경북도청 신도시 최우선 이전 ▲첨단산업 육성과 미래 인재 양성 기반 조성 ▲의료·문화·체육 인프라 확충 ▲광역 교통망 구축 등 경북 북부권의 구조적 도약을 위한 핵심 과제를 중점 건의했다.

특히 통합 이후에도 경상북도청사가 북부권 행정의 핵심 거점으로 기능할 수 있도록 특별법과 조례를 통한 제도적 지위 보장이 필요하다는 점을 강조했으며, 북부권 지역발전 특별회계 또는 기금 조성을 통한 안정적인 재정 지원 방안도 제시했다.

아울러 중앙정부 제2차 공공기관 이전과 대구·경북 산하 공공기관의 경북도청 신도시 이전을 비롯해 바이오 재생의료, AI 데이터, 미래 첨단항공 산업 등 신성장 산업 육성, 의과대학 및 상급종합병원 유치, 과학영재 교육 인프라, e스포츠 국가대표 훈련센터 조성 등 정주 여건 강화를 위한 핵심 사업들도 함께 건의했다.
