그는 “이제는 그 경험과 역량을 오롯이 예천을 위해 쓰겠다”며 “원도심과 신도시, 도시와 농촌이라는 두 축이 공존하는 예천의 특성을 살려 균형 있는 성장 전략을 다시 세우겠다”고 말했다.

예천의 미래 비전으로는 ▲지역경제 활성화 ▲청년을 위한 양질의 일자리 창출 ▲의료·교통·주거·문화관광 확충 ▲경북 최고 수준의 교육 중심도시 ▲여성이 당당하게 살 수 있는 지역 ▲예산 1조 원 시대 개막 등을 제시했다.

청년 정책과 관련해서는 “청년은 단순한 일자리가 아니라 성장할 수 있는 미래가 보일 때 돌아온다”며 “첨단기업 유치와 산업 구조 전환, 청년 희망 공동체 조성을 통해 인구 감소와 고령화 문제를 동시에 해결하겠다”고 강조했다. 또 “지원 중심 행정에서 벗어나 주민이 스스로 잘살 수 있는 자립 기반을 만드는 군정이 필요하다”며 “도시와 농촌이 각자의 강점을 살리면서도 시너지를 내는 ‘확장형 예천’을 만들겠다”고 밝혔다.

행정 운영은 ‘현장 중심·소통 중심 군정’을 제시했다. 그는 “보고서보다 현장을 먼저 보고, 전화보다 직접 찾아가 군민의 목소리를 듣겠다”며 “책상 위가 아니라 현장에 답이 있다”고 말했다.

국민의힘 공천 방향이 중앙당 중심으로 흐르는 데 대해 우려를 표했다. 그는 “아직 결정된 사안은 아니지만, 원칙적으로 기초단체장 경선은 지방에서 하는 것이 맞다”며 “지방자치의 취지에 맞는 공천 방식이 필요하다”고 밝혔다. 

대구·경북 행정통합에 대해서는 강하게 반대입장을 분명히 했다. 그는 “행정통합은 북부 지역 도시의 고사를 불러올 수밖에 없다”며 “통합이 되면 인구와 권력, 경제는 결국 대구로 쏠릴 것”이라고 주장했다. 이어 “지방자치는 각 지역이 스스로 잘해보라는 것이며, 국가균형발전 역시 같은 맥락”이라며 “우리 지역에 다른 기관이나 기업을 유치하는 것보다 행정 통합을 막는 것이 더 절실하다”고 강조했다.

그는 “2026년은 전략과 기획, 설계와 실천을 통해 예천의 새 역사를 쓰는 전환점이 될 것”이라며 “군민과 함께 예천을 더욱 살기 좋고, 더욱 빛나는 고장으로 만들겠다”고 거듭 강조했다. 

한편, 그는 예천군의원으로 정치를 시작해 경북도의회 4선 의원과 부의장, 기획경제위원장, 원내대표, 정책연구위원장 등을 역임하며 도내 22개 시·군의 정책과 예산을 다뤄왔다. 또 지방분권운동 대구·경북본부 공동대표로 활동하며 중앙과 지방을 잇는 역할을 해왔다고 밝혔다.

He stated, "Now, I will dedicate my experience and capabilities solely to Yecheon. I will re-establish a balanced growth strategy, leveraging Yecheon's unique characteristics of coexisting urban and rural areas, as well as the original downtown and new towns."

He outlined Yecheon's future vision, including: revitalizing the local economy; creating quality jobs for young people; expanding healthcare, transportation, housing, and cultural tourism; becoming a leading education hub in Gyeongbuk; becoming a place where women can live with dignity; and ushering in an era of a 1 trillion won budget.

Regarding youth policy, he emphasized, "Young people return when they see a future where they can grow, not just jobs. We will simultaneously address the issues of population decline and aging by attracting cutting-edge companies, transforming the industrial structure, and fostering a community of hope for young people." He also stated, "We need a county government that moves beyond support-centered administration and builds a foundation for self-reliance where residents can thrive. We will create an 'expandable Yecheon' where urban and rural areas leverage their respective strengths while creating synergy."

He proposed a "field-centered, communication-centered county administration" for administrative operations. He stated, "I will prioritize seeing the field before reports, and personally visit the county residents rather than over the phone to hear their voices." He added, "The answers lie in the field, not in the desk."

He expressed concern about the People Power Party's central party-centered approach to nominations. He stated, "While nothing has been decided yet, in principle, it's right for local government heads to be primaries held locally." He added, "A nomination process that aligns with the spirit of local autonomy is necessary."

He expressed strong opposition to the administrative integration of Daegu and Gyeongbuk. He argued, "Administrative integration will inevitably lead to the decline of cities in the northern region. If integration occurs, population, power, and the economy will ultimately be concentrated in Daegu." He continued, "Local autonomy is about allowing each region to do its best on its own, and balanced national development is in the same vein. It's more urgent to prevent administrative integration than to attract other organizations and companies to our region."

He reiterated, "2026 will be a turning point in writing a new history for Yecheon through strategy, planning, design, and implementation," and added, "Together with the people of Yecheon, I will make Yecheon a more livable and shining place."

Meanwhile, he began his political career as a Yecheon County council member and served as a four-term member of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Council, Vice Chairman, Chairman of the Planning and Economy Committee, floor leader, and Chairman of the Policy Research Committee, where he oversaw policies and budgets for 22 cities and counties in the province. He also served as co-chair of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Headquarters of the Local Decentralization Movement, bridging the central and local governments.
