【브레이크뉴스 예천】이성현 기자=예천군은 오는 19일부터 23일까지 닷새간 예천스타디움에서 ‘제55회 춘계 전국 중·고 육상경기대회’와 ‘제14회 춘계 전국초등학교 육상경기대회’를 개최한다고 밝혔다.

한국중·고육상연맹이 주최하는 이번 대회에는 초등부 166팀, 중등부 218팀, 고등부 89팀 등 전국 각지에서 총 473개 팀이 참가한다. 선수단과 심판, 임원 등 대회 관계자를 포함하면 약 4,000여 명이 예천을 찾아 육상의 열기를 더할 전망이다.

춘계 전국 초·중·고 육상대회는 한국 육상의 토대를 반세기 넘게 지켜온 최고 권위와 전통의 대회로 평가받는다. 올해 대회는 ‘2026 필리핀 오픈 국제육상경기선수권대회’와 ‘2026 한·중·일 주니어 육상대회’ 국가대표 선발전을 겸해 열리면서 대회의 중요성과 관심도가 한층 높아졌다.

특히 이번 대회에는 필리핀 육상연맹이 선발한 주니어대표팀 선수단 13명이 참가해 사실상 ‘미니 국제대회’ 성격으로 치러진다. 국내 선수들에게는 해외 선수들과 경쟁하며 국제무대 경쟁력을 키울 수 있는 좋은 기회가 될 것으로 기대된다.

대회는 중·고등부 경기가 열리는 19일부터 21일까지 사흘간 한국중고육상연맹 유튜브 채널을 통해 생중계되며, 주요 경기는 다시보기도 제공된다.
