브레이크뉴스 대구경북의 의뢰로 여론조사 전문기관 조원씨앤아이(JoWon C&I)가 지난 4월 2일부터 3일까지 영천시민 502명을 대상으로 실시한 조사 결과, 김병삼 전 부시장이 38.0%의 지지율을 얻어 가장 높은 적합도를 기록했다.

이어 최기문 현 영천시장이 28.7%, 김섭 변호사가 23.1%를 기록하며 뒤를 이었다. 1위와 2위의 격차는 9.3%p로 오차범위(±4.4%p) 밖이다. 이정훈 후보는 5.4%, 그 외 인물은 1.0%, 부동층(없음·모름)은 3.9%에 불과해 이미 표심이 상당 부분 결집된 양상을 보였다.
