【브레이크뉴스 경북 】이성현 기자=국민의힘 경북도당 지도부를 비롯한 당 조직이 27일 영천으로 집결했다.

무소속 출신의 현직 시장을 넘어야 하는 국민의힘 박영환 후보를 지원하기 위한 집중지원 유세다. 유세는 애초 예정됐던 11시 30분을 조금 넘기면서 시작됐다.

이날 유세에는 중앙당에서 김기현 전 원내대표이자 중앙선대위 위원장이 내려왔다. 경북도당 차원에서는 김정재 도당위원장이 직접 지원에 나섰고, 이만희 국회의원(경북 영천, 청도)과 이철우 경북도지사 후보, 김관용 전 경북도지사도 지원 유세에 합류했다.

이만희 국회의원은 “여기 있는 후보들은 윤 대통령과 이 나라를 만들고 지켜가는 사람들”이라며 “ 이번 선거에서는 국민의힘에 표를 몰아줘야 영천을 바꿀 수 있다. 이제 2~3%만 따라가면 된다. 이번엔 반드시 바꾸자”라고 호소했다. 

김정재 도당위원장은 “빼앗긴 우리 땅 되찾으러 왔다”라며 “민주당이 사사건건 윤석열 정부를 괴롭힐 것이다. 윤 정부 성공은 이번 지방선거 결과에서 나온다”라고 강조했다. 그러면서 “누구보다 영천을 잘 아는 사람, 영천에서 태어나 영천에서 시의원과 도의원을 했다. 영천의 구석구석을 아주 잘 알고 있는 사람이다. 박영환을 반드시 뽑아달라”고 호소했다.

김관용 전 경북도지사는 “영천 선거는 이곳 완산시장에서 결정되더라”라며 시장 상인들에 지지를 당부했다. 그러면서 “ 지선은 밑바닥부터 올라온다. 박영환이 이곳에서 성장해 왔다. 더 키워서 크게 활용하라”며 “이제 이곳 완산시장에서 끝이 나야 한다. 박영환을 밀어달라”고 호소했다.

이철우 도지사 후보는 “하소연한다 해서 뿌리치지 못하면 안 된다”라고 강조했다. 최기문 후보의 전략에 말려들지 말라는 주문으로 풀이된다. 이 후보는 그러면서 “이번에 무조건 박영환을 선택해 주시면 손잡고 대통령과 함께 여기 있는 국회의원들과 함께 영천의 발전을 위해서 최선을 다하겠다.”라고 말했다. 이어 그는 “대통령한테 돈 달라고 갈 때 같은 색의 옷을 입고 가야지 다른 옷을 입고가면 돈을 주겠냐”면서 “지난 문재인 정부 시절엔 무소속 시장이라 하더라도 큰 불편함을 잘 못 느끼셨을 것이다. 그러나 지금은 다르다, 무소속 시장과 함께 갈 수는 없다”라고 강조했다.

마지막으로 단상에 오른 박영환 후보는 가장 먼저 가족에게 고마움과 미안함을 전했다. 그리고 자신을 이 자리에 올 수 있게끔 해 준 영천 시민들에게는 “피 한 방울 섞이지 않은 나를 이 자리에 올 수 있게 해 주신 분들이 여러분들이시다. 정말 감사드린다”라며 “저 보고 그러신다. 영천 좀 잘살게 하자, 영천 좀 화합하자....그렇게 하겠다. 시장이 되면 기업 유치하러 다니고 투자 유치하러 다니고 우리 지역에서 생산되는 농산물 팔기 위해 앞장서겠다”라고 말했다. 

그러면서 “ 제게는 윤석열 대통령도 있고, 이철우 도지사도 있고, 이만희 국회의원도 있다. 또 여기 어른들과 7분의 후보님들도 계신다. 누구보다 나에게는 여러분들이 있다. 여러분과 제가 손잡아 그 힘으로 영천시 발전을 꼭 성공시키겠다”라고 목소리를 높였다.

한편, 비슷한 시각 영천공설시장 남문 입구에서는 최기문 후보의 지원 유세가 막바지를 달리고 있었다. 지원 유세에 나선 한혜련 전 경북도의원은 이만희 의원과의 공천 문제 등을 언급하며 자신이 왜 탈당해 무소속 후보를 돕는지를 시민들에 설명했다. 이곳에서 장사를 하는 상인은 "시장 상인들은 현 시장이 한 번 더 해야 한다는 분위기"라고 귀뜸했다.

Meanwhile, at the same time, at the entrance to the south gate of the Yeongcheon Public Market, candidate Choi Ki-moon's campaign for support was running out.
