도건우(50, 무소속) 전 대구경북경제자유구역청장이 9일 예비후보는 9일 오는 3월 9일 대통령 선거와 함께 치르는 대구 중구남구 국회의원 보궐선거 출마를 공식 선언했다.

국민의힘 성향인 도 전 청장은 당의 무공천 방침에 따라 일찌감치 무소속으로 예비후보 등록을 마쳤다. 그는 이날 선언문에서 “우리 정치권이 여야 모두가 쇄신경쟁에 뛰어들었고, 36세의 제1야당 대표가 배출되는 현실임에도 대구는 아직 1970년대생 국회의원도 배출되지 못했다”면서 “지역을 알고 중앙 무대에서도 당당한 경쟁력을 갖추고, 세계를 상대로 일할 수 있는 자신이 세대교체의 적임자”라며 출마포부를 밝혔다.

 중구남구의 정치 현실에 대해서도 그는 “20년 내려 꽂기식의 공천으로 젊고 패기 있는 정치신인이 발을 붙이지 못했다”고 강조했다. 그러면서 “결국 그 피해는 중구남구 주민에게 돌아가 버렸고 이제 중남구 유권자들이 이를 심판할 수 있는 절호의 기회”라고 했다.

 삼성경제연구소 수석연구원 출신인 도 후보는 이병철 회장이 서문시장을 무대로 사업을 시작해 삼성을 세계적인 기업으로 키운 것을 강조하며 “젊은 경제전문가 도건우를 지지하고 키워달라”고 호소했다.
