이날 오후 2시 한동훈 국민의힘 비대위원장과 함께 경북 문경 육가공업체 화재 현장과 분향소를 찾은 이 예비후보는는 “순직하신 고(故) 김수광 소방교와 박수훈 소방사의 명복을 빈다”고 전했다.

그러면서 “22대 국회에 들어가면 반드시 22년째 동결 중인 화재진압수당과 7년째 동결 중인 위험수당을 즉각 인상하고, 현재 추진 중인 소방관 대상 트라우마 치료시설을 신속하게 추진하겠다”고 약속했다. 

이와 함께 “순직한 소방관들의 어머니가 오열하시며 쓰러지는 모습에 마음이 많이 아팠다”면서 “자식을 잃은 어머니의 심정으로 소방관 처우 개선을 신속하게 관철시키겠다”고 강조했다.
