대구소방안전본부(본부장 정남구)는 지난달 26일 발생한 달성군 가창면 산림화재에 소방헬기와 소방드론의 밤낮 없는 활약이 큰 도움이 됐다고 21일 밝혔다.

가창면 오리 일대 산림화재는 지난달 26일 첫 발화가 시작됐고 3월 5일에는 운흥사 인근에 다시 발화하는 등 10일 주불을 진화했고, 13일 최종 진화가 완료됐다. 

이번 산불은 건조한 날씨와 강한 돌풍, 험한 산세 등으로 진화에 어려움을 겪었지만 소방안전본부와 달성군, 대구시 직원을 비롯해 군과 자원봉사자 등 수많은 기관‧단체의 적극적 지원으로 인명피해 없이 진화를 완료했다.

특히, 소방헬기와 소방드론은 밤낮 없는 활약으로 산불 진화에 큰 역할을 했다. 

대구소방에서 보유하고 있는 소방헬기 2대는 다목적 헬기로 인명구조와 방수 진화를 모두 수행할 수 있다. 소방헬기는 주불이 진화된 후에도 경계 방수를 진행하는 등 16일간 매일 일출부터 일몰까지 쉼 없이 활약했다.

소방드론은 하늘에서 산불 진행방향과 상황을 파악하는 눈 역할을 수행했다. 적극 대응이 어려운 야간에 소방드론의 진가가 발휘됐다. 

열화상카메라와 200배 디지털 줌 기능을 활용해 밤사이 확산 정도와 불씨를 확인해 좌표를 지휘본부에 송신했고, 진화 작전을 수립하는데 중추적인 역할을 했다. 

올해 소방드론 차량 도입으로 차량 안에서 현장모니터링과 현장지휘가 가능해져 재난현장에서 소방드론의 활용 범위가 확대될 전망이다. 

정건일 대구소방안전본부 119특수구조단장은 “소방헬기와 소방드론은 지상에서 불가능한 임무를 효율적으로 수행하는 역할을 톡톡히 해내고 있다”면서 “꾸준한 투자와 인력 양성으로 더 많은 재난현장에서 역할을 할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.

With the introduction of a fire drone vehicle this year, site monitoring and field command within the vehicle are possible, and the scope of use of fire drones at disaster sites is expected to expand.

   Jeong Geon-il, head of the 119 Special Rescue Team at Daegu Fire Safety Headquarters, said, “Fire helicopters and fire drones are doing a great job of efficiently performing missions that are impossible on the ground. I will try my best to make it happen,” he said.
