소방안전본부에 다르면 이번 협약은 6·25전쟁 정전 70주년을 맞아 보훈가족의 안전한 주거 환경을 조성하기 위해 양 기관이 힘을 모으면서 성사됐다.

주요 내용은 보훈가족의 화재 피해를 줄이기 위한 주택용 소방시설 물품 지원, 공상·순직 소방공무원 등 보훈가족 복지 지원, 정보공유와 협력 네트워크 구축, 상호 협력 등이다. 

대구소방은 우선 주택에 거주하는 보훈가족 200여 가구에 소화기와 화재경보기 등 주택용 소방시설을 지원하고 향후에도 지원 대상가구가 발생하면 지속적으로 지원할 계획이다.

정남구 대구소방안전본부장은 “이번 협약으로 국가를 위해 헌신하신 분들이 안전하고 편안하게 생활하는 데 조금이나마 도움이 되길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
