【브레이크뉴스 대구】박은정 기자= 대구 달서구(구청장 이태훈)와 달서구 의회(의장 김해철)는 튀르키예 국민을 돕기 위해 1만 400달러를 지원한다고 16일 밝혔다.
달서구의 1만4백 달러 지원은 예비비를 사용해 대한적십자사를 통해 간접 지원 방식으로 진행할 예정이다.
이태훈 달서구청장은 “튀르키예는 6.25전쟁 당시 2만여 병력을 파병하여 함께 대한민국을 지켜낸 고마운 형제의 국가”라며, “갑작스러운 강진으로 큰 피해를 입은 튀르키예 국민들께 진심 어린 위로를 전하고, 신속한 피해 복구에 조금이나마 도움이 되길 바란다.”고 말했다.
한편 달서구에는 지난 해 연말 기준 대구시에서 가장 많은 외국인 주민(전체의 35%)이 거주하고 있으며, 외국인 주민 러브인달서, 해외 청소년한국문화체험지원, 베트남 땀끼시와의 교류 등 다양한 국제교류 업무를 수행하고 있다.
