이에 민주당 김천지역위는 지난 10일부터 튀르키예 국민들을 돕기 위한 겨울 방한용품 모으기 운동을 전개했고 이를 통해 모인 담요, 겨울 외투, 내의, 난방용품 등 총 100박스 1톤 분량을 튀르키예로 보냈다고 밝혔다.

구호물품은 터키항공을 통해 튀르키예로 무료로 운송된다. 황태성 김천지역위 직무대행은 “튀르키예 지진 피해상황을 뉴스로 접하고 큰 충격을 받았다.”면서 “가족을 잃고 추위에 떨고 있을 이재민들에게 작은 보탬이라도 되길 바라며 구호물품 모집에 참여한 김천시민들과 당원들에게 감사를 전한다.”고 말했다.
