【브레이크뉴스 김천】진예솔 기자=김천대학교(총장 윤옥현) 배드민턴부가 ‘2025 대통령기 전국종별배드민턴 선수권대회’에서 은메달과 동메달을 따내며 저력을 과시했다.

이번 대회는 7월 6일부터 13일까지 전북 익산실내체육관에서 대한배드민턴협회 주최로 열렸다. 김천대는 혼합복식 부문에서 추찬 선수가 은메달을, 남자복식 부문에서는 추찬·노경규 조가 동메달을 각각 차지했다.

김민호 감독은 “선수들이 끝까지 포기하지 않고 최선을 다해준 덕분에 값진 결과를 얻었다”며 “이번 경험을 바탕으로 더욱 단단한 팀으로 성장해가겠다”고 소감을 밝혔다. 이어 “앞으로도 김천대학교 배드민턴부에 많은 관심과 응원을 부탁드린다”고 전했다.

김천대 배드민턴부는 2021년 3월 창단 후 단기간 내 뛰어난 성과를 거두며 주목을 받아왔다. 창단 6개월 만에 선수권 단체전 3위에 오르며 첫 입상을 기록했고, 2022년 노고단배 전국대학·실업배드민턴연맹전에서는 남자 대학부 단체전 우승과 함께 최우수 지도자상을 수상했다.

2023년에는 대한배드민턴협회장기 전국종별대회에서 단체전 준우승을 기록했으며, 제105회 전국체육대회에서는 남자 대학부 개인 복식과 여자 대학부 단체전에서 각각 동메달을 획득했다.

한편, 김민호 감독은 2025년 국가대표 상비군 지도자로 선임되며 지도자로서의 역량도 다시 한 번 인정받았다. 김천대 배드민턴부는 향후에도 전국 대회에서 꾸준한 활약을 이어갈 것으로 기대를 모은다.

Kimcheon University (President Yoon Ok-hyun) Badminton Club showed off its strength by winning silver and bronze medals at the ‘2025 Presidential National Badminton Championships’.

This competition was held from July 6 to 13 at the Iksan Indoor Gymnasium in Jeollabuk-do, hosted by the Korea Badminton Association. In the mixed doubles category, Chu Chan of Kimcheon University won a silver medal, and in the men’s doubles category, Chu Chan and Noh Kyung-kyu won a bronze medal.

Coach Kim Min-ho said, “We achieved valuable results thanks to the players who did their best without giving up until the end,” and “We will grow into a stronger team based on this experience.” He added, “Please continue to show interest and support for the Kimcheon University Badminton Club.”

Since its establishment in March 2021, the Kimcheon University Badminton Club has been in the spotlight for its outstanding achievements in a short period of time. Within 6 months of its founding, it achieved its first award by taking 3rd place in the team championship, and in the 2022 Nogodan Cup National University and Industrial Badminton Federation Tournament, it won the men's university team event and received the Best Coach Award.

In 2023, it recorded second place in the team event at the Korea Badminton Association President's Cup National Event, and won bronze medals in the men's university individual doubles and women's university team events at the 105th National Sports Festival.

Meanwhile, Coach Kim Min-ho was selected as the national team reserve team coach in 2025, and his ability as a coach was once again recognized. The Gimcheon University badminton team is expected to continue to perform consistently in national competitions in the future.
