【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=사단법인 대구‧경북국제교류협의회(DGIEA: Daegu-Gyeongbuk International Exchange Association이하 DGIEA)가 튀르키예와 시리아 지진 피해 지원을 위한 성금을 대한적십자사에 기부했다고 22일 밝혔다.

사단법인 대구‧경북국제교류협의회(DGIEA)는 2008년 설립된 비정부기관으로 현재 한국‧폴란드협회를 시작으로 39개 국가별 협회가 회원협회로 활동하고 있다.

2018년 라오스 댐 붕괴 피해 구호성금 및 물품 전달, 2020년 아이티지진피해 긴급의료봉사단 후원, 2021~2022년 코로나19 확산 방지를 위한 해외 위생‧의료용품 지원과 지역 외국인 유학생 격려, 2022년 울진산불피해 성금 모금 등의 다양한 구호활동을 지원해온 협의회는 지난 2월 발생한 튀르키예-시리아 대지진으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 이재민들을 위해 힘을 모았다.

이에 따라 협의회 사무국은 한국‧튀르키예협회를 비롯한 소속 국가별 협회와 협회 소속 회원들의 자발적인 참여로 성금 3,512만원을 마련하여 20일 대한적십자사에 전달했다.

전달된 성금은 지진피해 지역 이재민 임시 보호소 운영과 구호물품 및 식량보급, 의료지원 등 구호 활동에 사용될 예정이다.
