이번 협약은 대구시와 연합회 간 상호협력을 통해 어르신 치매예방 관리를 위한 공동협력 기반을 마련하고 궁극적으로 ‘치매 걱정 없는 건강하고 활기찬 은빛 노년’을 지원하기 위해 추진하게 됐다.

이번 협약을 통해 대구시는 대구광역치매센터, 8개 구·군 보건소 치매안심센터와 함께 연합회 8개 구·군 지회 산하 경로당 1,560개소 중심으로 치매예방 순회교육, 치매조기선별검진, 대상자 연계·관리 등을 통해 치매관리서비스 접근성을 강화하여 치매관리사업을 활성화해나갈 계획이다.

김종한 대구시 행정부시장은 “고령화 사회에 대비하여 어르신들의 치매 조기발견과 치료, 예방적 관리 등 다각적인 지원을 통해 치매로부터 안심하고 살 수 있는 ‘치매안심도시 대구’로 거듭날 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
